Agree with Dave. I've had both and wouldn't hesitate to fork out for the schroths again.

With the pads in place the shoulder straps are much more comfortable, especially when pulled up really tight.

Might give that a try myself; it's not a problem I've had if I have a collar on whatever shirt, jacket etc I'm wearing, but 3" straps do occasionally rub a little when I've got a t shirt on and nothing protecting my neck.
