Weekend Warrior Posted September 9, 2017 Posted September 9, 2017 Im looking to buy a spare set of alloys for my car so I can use my worn tyres on track days ,they are 15 inch team dynamics 4 stud, and I want to Determine the technical bit eg 6.5 x15 et15 pcd 108 or whatever do the numbers and letters on the back of the wheel let me know this my tyres are 205/50:15 , an I overthinking this ,do the wheels have to be the same size or will my tyres fit on any 15 " rims Quote
Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO Posted September 9, 2017 Posted September 9, 2017 Tyre width and rim diameter are the only numbers affecting tyre fitment. The ET affects fitment of wheel and tyre onto the hub and may impact clearances to arches etc. This tool is very helpful: http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=205&aspect=50&diameter=15&wheelwidth=7.5&offset=24&width2=205&aspect2=60&wheel_size=13&wheel_width=7&offset2=24 Some tyre manufactures will specify a rim width for their tyres. e.g. Toyo R888's 205/50/15 suggest: https://www.toyotires.com/tire/pattern/proxes-r888-dot-competition-tires 5.5 to 7.5 but some have them fitted on an 8" wide wheel! 1 Quote
Andy (Sycho) Posted September 9, 2017 Posted September 9, 2017 They are 15"x7" rims you can mearsure the et but are probably et23 & if they are ford fittment they will be 108pcd but Mazda is different. 1 Quote
Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO Posted September 9, 2017 Posted September 9, 2017 Forgot to add Team Dynamics print the info in very hard to read dots on the inside rim of the wheel. You need to catch the wheel in the correct light to see them! 1 1 Quote
Weekend Warrior Posted September 9, 2017 Author Posted September 9, 2017 Thanks for the replys thus far ,the wheels are back on the car after the new tyres being fitted so taking the measurements as per the diagrams would be tricky .I asked the tyre fitter about offset and PCD as I was looking for new wheels but he didn't have a clue ,it was him that suggested taking a picture if the rear of the wheel it was a factory built car with a zetec engine if that helps 63 plate .I could give the factory a ring on Monday they would -possibly have records of the wheels they put on . CraigHew Posted September 9, 2017 Posted September 9, 2017 Here's my TD wheel details as @IanK (Bagpuss) mentioned above. They're very hard to see, even harder to photograph. On the inside rim of each wheel. Quote
Terryathome Posted September 9, 2017 Posted September 9, 2017 Yes you have 7J wide rims and from memory 7J was the recommended width for 205 tyres. Can't remember who told me, think it was that tyre place over Oldham way in Lancs. Any way he did say 205 tyres woulld fit on a 6.5J but as said recommended 7J. Now the above dosen't quite fit in the table that Iank posted as that recommends 6.5J for a 205 tyre. Now I'm confused? You haven't said what model your car is and will assume FW body. When I asked Westfields some time ago on the recommended ET they advised 24ish to push the wheels out a bit to fill the arches. Said it looked better, who am I to argue? Quote
Weekend Warrior Posted September 10, 2017 Author Posted September 10, 2017 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-Team-Dynamics-Pro-Race-1-2-Alloy-Wheels-15-x-7-4x108-Gloss-Black-ET23/172858102888?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 came across these they look the same as mine so I bought them .If by any chance they don't fit I'll sell them on ,the search continues for 2 more .
