andy665 Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 Since buying a car that I knew was pretty much perfect in Feb I have spent a small fortune on improving, replacing and updating stuff: New seats New harnesses New mirrors New headlights Overhauled Stack instruments New aeroscreen And yesterday saw me buying a new set of LED rear lights to replace standard lights that are working perfectly Is it just me or is this the norm for a Westfield owner? 2 Quote
Captain Colonial Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 It's a disease you get free of charge when buying a car you use for pleasure - it's called upgradeitis and is incurable. We all have it. Just be grateful at the end if you can still recognise it as the car you started with. Quote
Kingster Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 I give you @chriss1455 : He bought this and now has this - and it's the same car honest Trigger! Quote
Thrustyjust Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 I'll answer this better when the carbon arrives next week to replace stuff that is totally functional , but needed an upgrade Quote
Kingster Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 I built mine, then within 18 months it had a new engine, new gearbox, new ECU, new carbon dash, new AIM electronic dash, new switches, new wishbones, new uprights, new radiator, new steering wheel, new tyres, new aeroscreen, new mirrors, new carbon half doors, new carbon cycle wings, new alloy radiator - and more that I probably can't remember. To do: Full cage, carbon side panels, LSD, 13" wheels, V8 bonnet, carbon boot panel - and more that I will no doubt think of! Quote
Thrustyjust Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 Number plate looks the same Chris Quote
Kingster Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 Yes both me and the other Chris have retained our number plates! - I think @chriss1455 thought mine and his looked too similar and as most of my changes were under the bodywork, he just had to go that one step further! Quote
chriss1455 Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 As chris has said the changes ive made have been dramatic. It is a case of one thing leads to another. Ive found it Best to just accept that whatever you set out to initially upgrade / change wont stay at that just that. However on the other hand i would say dont get too carried away at once. I know from first hand that when things get as carried away as they did with me they turn very expensive very quickly Quote
SXRORY Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 Had mine since Jan and bought as a "sorted car" I have done stuck things to it.....stripes and seat pads. Any thing that was liquid in the car has been replaced cambelt Remap 4 New boots. Rear brakes Winter plans Cooling (new rad?) New discs and pads upfront Some fuel lines look a bit old, and my fuel pump does a crazy dance on the old bobbin it's on. POR15 the rear. As some surface rust Point to consider If we did all this stuff to a decent quick tin top the costs would be through the roof. All this carbon.... brakes...remaps etc so if you think about it, we are actually saving money!....... Quote
Kingster Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 4 hours ago, SXRORY said: so if you think about it, we are actually saving money!....... Honestly mate, say it enough times and you might actually believe it Quote
Thrustyjust Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 I'm saving the environment with carbon upgrades, as I then have less mass to move , which will mean I burn less fuel..................................... sort of................ Quote
