Search - Try again in 5 seconds.....

Recommended Posts

Not sure if its changed, but the search flood-control seems very keen.

Say if you search once, get no results, and try a new search term, you get the 'try again 5 seconds' thing all the time.

Cant be just me?

Thanks for the heads up. Again, this is a new system and we have new folks giving up their time to keep it all going. It might just be related to the recent security updates, better safe than sorry, but I'm sure our webmaster will be aware and giving some thought...

I have turned off 'flood control' for Full Members - if things start to get slow, I may need to review this decision :)

The flood risk for paid up members should be really very low, however I would proberbly wouldn't turn it right off just in case you get a rouge account.

Our site http://www.canalworld.net/forums/ is free to use, so we dont have the safety of a paywall, but use 3 seconds for our main member group, which appears to below a threshold where you are likely to see it. Longer for 'new members' with 2 or less posts.

A paid up rogue account is rare. But yes will put it on at a couple of seconds, good call.
