XTR2Turbo Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 That's unfortunate. Speak with Craig Spooner. He is midlands so not too far from you and had someone local I think fix his. David 1
stephenh Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 I believe that experience shows trying to straighten a bent space frame is extremely hit and miss. The trouble is that the chassis rails tend (unless the bend is only very slight) to stretch as well as bend, so when you straighten them they end up still out of line, if you see what I mean. The better way is to get a chassis front end and have it welded in place by someone who knows what they are doing, preferably on a jig.
Terryathome Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 John, is that your car? you let Lee drive it? Pulling the chassis in a jig and getting it right would be a very specialised affair in my book. SteveD would be the bloke for this kind of work. That's if he still around doing this kind of work. Even that said cutting out the offending bits and then pulling any slight bends out would be better. That's if you don't cut the whole lot out. Good luck let's us know how you get on.
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Steve was working the body shop for Transplants in Winsford (they have a couple of other sites in Cheshire, as well), last I heard. He advertised the jigs he had, for sale, a few years ago. I understood they did sell, but don't know where.
