Rear shock absorbers leaking

Hi everyone, my 2001 factory built Megablade needs new rear shock absorbers because one has started to leak. The shock absorbers are Spax with blue springs fitted, the vehicle ride height is just 10cm ( 4" ) does anyone know the part number for the Spax shock absorber, are there any alternative  that I can use ? I know that Westfield fitted the Spax orginally and I have emailed them to see if they can shed any light, but I am not that hopeful. Is there anyone that services Spax shock absorbers ?

There are are some traders on here that specialise in shocks etc, Meteor motorsport and DamperMan (spax) are two I can think of, have a look in the WSCC traders section.

Otherwise Pro-Tech are highly rated by quite a few members, a number of places sell them Procomp I believe do matched pairs setup for the Westfield and Westfield also sell them, though I guess unless you get an exact replacement then you may end up replacing all 4 dampers.

To be honest we don't know in all cases what Westfield fitted on various cars though the years. There is clearly a need for different dampers when comparing independent and live axle cars.    I would say in ~ 2001 the rear part numbers we're G948.   But also we often supplied Specials!..  The part number would still be stamped into the body of the damper.  The stamping is to the rear of the valve block (the block at the bottom of the damper where the adjuster sticks out).   From open and closed length I can identify the damper and if you like you can email me a picture of the damper to ensure your getting the equivalent damper type.   I have redeveloped new parts for SeiW as this is what I have.  Feel free to email me tony_shakeshaft@spaxperformance.com

Definitely time for nice new shockers. There is plenty of choice of thesedays and they will all give you a smoother ride and more controlled damping.  Most popular are stock Westfield oe shocks, Protech shocks from Blink and Procomp or if youre feeling flush , Nitrons.   

Measure the open and closed length of the damper to get the right replacement.
