Using a song from itunes as a ringtone on iphone?

Anyone know how to do it - connecting phone to PC isnt an option.

Yes it can be done, I've created a few in the past.

 

Summary of process is "To turn any song into an iPhone ringtone you must edit its start- and stop times in iTunes, convert it to AAC, rename the file extension .m4r and then add it to the Tones section of iTunes."

 

Basically the ring tone can only be so long, must be based upon the AAC format and needs a different extension. 

 

do a search on "creating ringtones for iphone" and there are plenty of examples.

So i can only do it through itunes?

Hi Paul - I've tried that :( I've given up now, even with the apps you need to to connect to iTunes which I can't do. Ah well it was a nice idea!
