Captain Colonial Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 A dedicated section for trackdays. Btw, I agree about the "too many" sections making it clumsy, but I'm sure a couple could be culled or merged to make room. If you can generate sufficient track day traffic in the amended section discussing and promoting track days, we will consider creating a new section. But as you've pointed out, there are many people who won't join the club because it isn't track oriented and of no interest to them, which is understandable. There are forums and websites dedicated to track days that better suit those who are only interested in such things than our broad church club and forum does. I doubt the addition of a dedicated track days section would make them part with £30 and generate significant increases in membership. Let's see how we get on with posting about track days in that communal section for a while. Quote
Andrew Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 But as you've pointed out, there are many people who won't join the club because it isn't track oriented and of no interest to them, which is understandable. To be honest, I doubt we could get many of the hard liners back, but it would maybe help stem the flow of them that choose to leave. The last couple of times I've renewed my membership, I had to ask myself why.. I can well understand the ones that didn't renew. The club doesn't have to be track orientated, it just needs to cater for those who are? Quote

Andrew Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 here you go :-) One trackday a year doesn't make the club track orientated Marcus. :-) But, to be fair I'm not expecting the club to lay on trackdays, I'm just asking for a little section where wierdos like me, who have absolutely no interest in shows, tours, parade laps etc etc... can talk to other like minded wierdos who just want to drive quickly on motor racing circuits. SteveH Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Got to say I'm with Andrew on this and I share his confusion as to why we don't see more of our cars regularly out on track. I like the club, it's based round a good bunch of guys and packed with information about our cars but as a trackdayer there isn't much to see in here. We have tried doing an annual calendar of suggested venues and events where members can gather and I've always done my best to ensure that they are available at discounted rates but the response has been extremely variable. By far the biggest turnouts have been to events where one of the local groups has decided to come along en-mass and then a few others have joined in as it gathered momentum, Rockingham on Easter Monday was a good example of this. Whether a dedicated trackday section would generate interest or just be an empty wasteland like it is on many clubs, I don't know. I packed in running trackdays a year ago because we'd always tried to base them round getting club groups involved and it was impossible to get consistent support, some of the last threads I started in trackday sections on other clubs at the start of 2015 are still at the top of the page . Unfortunately I think the one-make nature of many car clubs is contrary to the more all-encompassing enthusiasm for performance driving that comes with trackdaying. Quote
