Gerry H
I've just booked as a shakedown for the coming season. http://www.msvtrackdays.com/car/calendar/2016/feb/13-ba-gen.aspx Open pit lane, plenty of run-off, long straight and twisty bits. Anyone else?
KugaWestie
Have you been before? I have heard they are very strict on noise
Gerry H
Yes I've been a few times as I'm quite local. They are strict on noise but you do get warnings and if necessary ease off when passing the meters. My car's not quiet ~ 99dB static when tested at sprint events last year. The staff at Bedford are very helpful and friendly, unlike Donnington a few years ago You can take your car to Bedford and they'll noise test it for you before booking a track day. Just call them to arrange.
Stevec33
I got black flagged at Bedford in a 2.0 xe 180bhp westy, they just told us we couldn't use it anymore and that was that. It passed the static test easily, its often the drive by that will cause problems
B.RAD
^unusual, not my experience. I was warned about noise when I was there in November, just got the 'noise' board shown, I voluntarily came into the pits and had a chat with the organisers. They told me roughly where the mic was and remarked that on my car, the time it was loudest was on open throttle just after changing gear (ie full revs wasn't the issue, it was that gasping sound TB's make when they're desparately sucking air and fuel through at low rpm) so I changed my shift point to 10m past the mic and it was no longer an issue. I do know of another member who had a bad time with the marshals because of noise and has refused to return, which is a shame as it's our local track Unfortunately I'm on holiday that weekend otherwise I'd have been with you Gerry I love the GT circuit, it's perfect for our cars and is such a good track for learning on that I wouldn't want anyone to be discouraged from giving it a try! At £119 it's a flippin bargain for such a huge track too!

If you are warned about drive by noise and show willing, the operators will do their utmost to help and advise. It's in nobody's interest to have people kicked off if it's at all avoidable.
Stevec33
This was going back a few years, maybe like 5 years ago, the policy back then was zero tolerance so perhaps it's changed now

B.RAD
I think they've softened their approach Gary - I wouldn't let it put you off, it's an awesome track. As I mentioned before, they do give you fair warning with a 'noise' board, I think that it might be plausible that if you ignore this / don't see it and keep going, they'll black flag you, but if you acknowledge it and talk to them about it they're quite amiable. It's such a good track! Brilliant combo of long straights, challenging hairpins, double apex corners, you have to give it a try!
Marto303
Wouldn't give them the satisfaction of black flagging me ( again ) Gerry, shame cos your right the GT is awesome Anyway I'll be packing me budgie smugglers ready for the sunshine a few days after

M6 WSC
Bedford sounds interesting as I'm based in North London. SWMBO even seemed keen on the idea! I haven't done a track day before - if it's raining on the day, I assume that's just tough and you can't get a refund etc? Cheers M6 WSC
