PICNIC ON THE MOORS 24.05.15

Hello.

Would anyone like to join us for a picnic next Sunday. [ you need to bring your own food and drink in your car ].

My plan is this.

Meet at the highwayman café on the A64 at York. Big layby there and toilets. 20pence for a wee.

Drive over to Scarborough for petrol.

Down into Scarborough and a drive round the motorcycle race track on Olivers Mount.

Down through the seafront for a pose and a coffee and a wee stop on the sea front.

Up the coast to Whitby and a Petrol stop to make sure tanks are full.

Through Whitby for a pose and then to Sandsend because its a lovely coast road and turn round at the end and can stop for a wee here as toilets available.

Here are some pictures of some places we would see.

Picnic would be by the river and the arches are at the top of Rosedale Chimney.

Then across to Grosmont where all the steam trains are and then to Glaisdale for a picnic by the river.

From here can go up Rosedale Chimney which is britains steepest road and then we can have a drive round the moors if anyone fancies it as many lovely places to go.

I do not intend on bombing along as its a steady drive out to enjoy the scenery.

Would anyone like to come along.

Hi Buttercup,

That sounds a great day out!

Would have liked to join you but cannot do next Sunday.

Let me know if you plan anything similar over the forthcoming few weeks.

Regards

Michael.

If you are booking a hotel can you bring walking boots. Could take you to falling foss waterfall if you have time on the Monday. Lovely drive and lovely walk with fab bacon sandwich at the end of it.

I will post a pic tonight of the walk and waterfall.

Where are you staying

York Tadcaster travelodge..... I'll see what space is left in the luggage after the Sage has packed the world for a 2 night stay!

Bit to far to go for a sandwich. I was not sure if you were staying in Scarborough.

Can I propose we meet at the Highwayman Café at 9.30am. Happy to do later if that's to early for you subject to who else is coming.

You will travel down the A64 towards York and you will go all the way down until you come to the traffic lights. At the lights head towards Scarborough [middle lane] and as you come out of the slip road the Café is on the left hand side and there is a massive layby outside so parking is easy.

Another lovely day I'll sadly have to miss while I'm replacing my engine. Have a great time!

That's a shame.

We can always do another day as I have a few messages saying they cannot make this one but would come on another with a bit more notice.

Yes.

Are you coming.

I was going to fetch a disposable BBQ and a couple of packs of sausages and we can all have salmonella sausages by the river if we have time.
