Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO
Are we all going to vote for 'our' Lewis?

M444TTB
I voted for Jo Pavey and was really happy she placed in the top 3. Glad Lewis Hamilton won as an alternative. A lot of fans of the other sports have no idea quite how fit these F1 drivers are.
Dibby
It's a bit of a farce. If it was anything to do with personality or sportsmanship, Jenson Button would have won it years ago. It should be renamed "sports achievement of the year award" if Nigel Mansel, Tim Henman, Andy Murray, Jonathan Edwards and Steve Davis can win, it's certainly not about personality. Imagine being stuck at a past winners dinner table with them lot all night.
Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO
A lot of fans of the other sports have no idea quite how fit these F1 drivers are. Some years ago, probably in the 70s, there was a TV series called Superstars, it was a series of sporting challenges where stars from various sports were put against each other, the racing drivers allways did very well, surprising quite a lot of athletes. Jackie Stewart was one of 'our' representatives.
Dibby
The only thing I can remember from that series was Kevin Keegan going for a gutser on bike and skidding along the track. One of the greatest sporting outtakes of all time

alexander72
I still think a blind skier doing 75mph trumps all the others for achievement and sporting prowess - absolute excellent team work..... imaging doing prescott hill with your eyes shut following a shade of orange at full tilt.....nuff respect... M444TTB
I'm still surprised people don't understand the word 'personality'. The BBC should change the word to 'person' and be done with it.

BLiNK Motorsport
Personally I think Rory Mcilroy's achievements were far greater than Lewis Hamilton's - let's face it; the Mercedes was so dominant it was a two horse race for the world championship. Rory won two major championships in a single year and was also part of the ryder cup winning team - I bet he wonders what else he would have to do to win SPOTY! Yes - it is named wrong but those that criticise Andy Murray really don't understand what he has been through in his life.
Terry Everall
Rory for me too!

Agreed, I'd like to see more paralympians winning in general. Skiing at 75mph while being able to see is way beyond me! There are a whole bunch of more deserving sporting events, Guy Martin's balls of steel and massive personality should have won him the award. But he hasn't won a mainstream sporting event. There are some huge personalities and sporting achievements in the world of mountain biking from people like Steve Peat, but it's not mainstream family entertainment enough for the BBC. Personally I think Rory Mcilroy's achievements were far greater than Lewis Hamilton's Poking a ball round a field with a stick looks soooooo hard! Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
(I'm not referring to this thread!) I do do find it kind of ironic, how out there on the social meeja sites discussion of who won/didn't win the SPOTY seems to bring out the least Sporting of behaviour in so many people.
