cooperwestie
Been intouch with the track about renting the lot out for the day. so I need to know who would be interested if I do. The price etc is unconfirmed but will be on a weekend for the workers out there. I just need a head count to see if it would be worth while and cheap enough if everyone had track time. alexander72
Mallory park for a weekend date - my guess would be about £10k
cooperwestie
So we would need some applicants then. Trade tents etc would be needed then to help the cost. Im aiming to give the lads half hour on the track for around £30 but im still talking prices etc. so its really just to see wjo would be interested and if it would be visible to do. Would you be interested?
alexander72
Cooper, I'd be very interested in a day at Mallory but would want perhaps 3 blocks of time to give enough runs to enable some changes in set up and tweeking my launch control, KERS, air shift unit and work some slicks into peak grippiness. say 9-12, 1-3 and the 4-5:30 What would the noise limit be crucially please?
cooperwestie
The limit is 98 db but if we have alot of real noisy boys out the the do a 104 db day but at extra cost to the venue...
cooperwestie
Im thinking alloted times to be honest. If you wanted to pay for more then I cant see that been any trouble. Also a novice hour would be good so everyone can have there turn at been fast. By novice hour I mean split up into two hour hour runs. This is goin to be a members bash so all your imput is important to me. What do people want???
stephenh
The WSCC used to organise an annual trackday, mid-week, at Mallory, but the cost was too great and the numbers wanting to take part insufficient to justify the cost, so it finished about 3 years ago. In effect the Blyton trackday has replaced it. You say you intend it as "a members bash". Have you discussed that with a committee member, because it has very significant insurance implications. cooperwestie
Its been worked of using mallory parks rams so im taking there insurance aswell, otherwise we would have to supply st johns, fire service etc so that aint worth doin. By members bash I mean westfield owners not wscc unless of course they want to run one again. Might be worth the "committee" trying again..new owners new prices if that makes any sense. And plus the costs would be more at the weekend but more people can have the weekend off!!! Its common sense why would someone have a day off work to spend a fortune surely anyone with any tgought for tge workers in the world would realise that a weekend would bring in more punters

I'm taking it your a committee member then? I can see by your profile your probably retired so a weekday run wouldn't bother you too much. But like many owners/members we work and get paid for been at work in the "week" so a weekday event is pointless never mind inconsiderate to people with young families who still want to enjoy the benefits of having a Westfield. So if the committee needs to be involved to make this happen then that's cool as it will help the progress of my thoughts. If enough people are interested and we can arrange stands to be there as well then this will all bring down the cost of renting the park for the day. As I said this is a feedback page not implications and litigation page, so help would be better than this. If this comes across as me been an a@#e then I'm sorry but I want advice and interest not spinners in the works. At least I'm having a go at doin something for the drivers out there!!!!!!!!!! alexander72
Cooper, I think we have a trackday guru now within the forum who is best placed to help facilitate this. There are significant risks to the organiser of track based activity and the committee are very well placed, with the trackday guru, to assist in steering you in the right direction. I would be very wary of renting a curcuit and giving any warranties or representations. I have looked at the same thing as you and found that the risks far outweigh the rewards in many cases but good luck to you and I hope that you can manage to arrange a day that gives you what you want at the weekend. :-) James
cooperwestie
Cheers James. Do you know who this guru is mate, you would think it would be easy just bring what you run type thing. Surely if your using there facilities they should provide the relevant paper work to go with the day. I thought you had to have track day insurance if your was to track a car??? Be nice to get something sorted without all the barrier tape in my way
alexander72
Cooper, No problem at all - what happens (as I understand it) is you book the track and ask that all drivers give you an indemnity as organiser but you then have to indemnify (hold harmless of any cost, liability, expense or damage for any wilful, negligent act or Loss caused by The Activity) the organisers. It is a significant risk believe me. If any of the participants are negligent and say, put someone in a wheelchair you could be caught in t middle as the responsible person - not a good place to be without a lot of Insurance. I will try and the trackday guru's name though I am sure he will be along later to help. Good Luck James
alexander72
Copied from an announcement regading just this earlier in the year. Hi All, On behalf of the committee, I’d like to post the following: As you may have seen, here and on other forums, there have been several discussions regarding insurance and track-days in particular. The club’s officials have been and are currently seeking advice about how this affects us all as individual members of the club, (and thus are potentially, individually and equally responsible for). This is something we aim to resolve at the AGM in May. In the mean time, it is important to understand that while we value and appreciate members booking tracks and organizing their own track days for other members, and wish them successful and popular events, it is crucial that these events are not confused with either WSCC organized Track Days, or other Commercially available Track Days. We are currently more than happy to support those running these occasional non-profit days, by relaxing the normal rules on advertising on the Boardroom by non-traders. But we do ask that you don’t use the words Westfield Sports Car Club or WSCC in either the name of the event or it’s description in such a way that it appears to be a club organized event and hence covered by the club’s insurance. In addition, you need to include the following disclaimer at the end of your post – “To avoid any potential misunderstandings, the Committee would like to remind everyone that although this event is being shown on the WSCC Forums, it is not organised by the WSCC and is not an official WSCC Track Day event, and as such, it is not covered by the WSCC's insurance - so it's up to each individual attending the event to ensure that they are adequately covered.” This is such an important thing, to protect individual members from a “worst case” scenario, that the mods will make the changes automatically, if you don’t! If anyone organizing a day needs help obtaining the appropriate insurance cover, we can give him or her the necessary contact details. Please note all “official” WSCC Track Days as arranged by our new Track Day Guru, SteveH are done through fully insured track day companies. Thank you for your patience, and have a great time out there on track
SootySport
Our trackday hero is http://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/index.php/user/17328-steveh/ He organises days in conjunction with the trackday companies. The commitment from any single person to rent a track is just too much cost wise. Steve has been asking for suggestions from members on where they would like to go. Currently, Rockingham is coming up, it's in the events forum. As for MalloryPark, yes I like that one a lot but haven't been there for a few years.
