bad day from the start and got worse

right then decided last night to have today off as the forcast wasnt that bad , my idea was to jump in the elise and drive over through to macclesfield then over th chapel through over to sheffield way as there are some stunning roads

so i leave at 8 am and thought i will drive past work to make sure everything is still secure on the way , this is where it goes goes wrong

i turn over a one way bridge (small humpback) over the canal onto the road where my workshop is

and then bang a stupid bleedin cyclist coming over the bridge the wrong way he has all the gear on and on what looked like a expensive bike , planted in the front of my elise i get out and drag him up off his bike on the ground , at this point im fuming and nearly hit the stupid retard but thought better of it

i give him the biggest bollocking he has probably ever had , i take his details and check his number off his mobile phone to make sure he has given me the correct details ,also i take photos of the scene and damage ,cracked and scratched clam ,chuffin wonderfull

anyway i head on my way on my intended route ,on the way back i was travelling in a long line of cars 25 mph on loose chippings ,between me and the car in front there is a gap of about 30ft there are a group of about 6 cyclists at the junction on my right at a cross roads (my right of way),one of them is slowly riding accross the road kind of scooting the pedals , then he decides to go for it accross the road between me and the car in front ,i have to slam on the brakes and nearly hit him the car behind me nearly hits me

so i spin the car round and go after him ,again im fuming after the earlier accident , i pull infront of him forcing him to stop ,i jump out get hold him and have a go at him the rest of his mates just catch up and stop ,im ranting about the numpty earlier who hit me and i probably went a bit to far to be honest ,his mates just kept out of it

i get in my car and carry on home ,the cyclist's were like a plauge of ants on every chuffin road i went on ,

coming down the cat n fiddle to mac down the hill there was one cyclist head down A*** up using the road as a race track taking the racing line hitting the apex's on the full width of our side of the road and then some ,there was no way i could pass without going on the other side of the road totally , he was that far over at two or three  points i could of gone up the inside of him easily  he was that far over the wrong side of the road ,i had to hold the horn on to even make him aware i was behind him ,i was stuck behind him for a good 1/4 of a mile , total idiot

then coming up the road to our house a cat runs out and goes under my car , chuffin marvelous  one dead cat , i stop and get out to move the cat from the road and check for a collar and the owners details ,then one very angry cat owner appears from the driveway ,she was cutting the grass and saw me mow down her moggy , i fealt bad about running it over but im chuffed if im standing there getting the blame for it off the owner so i point out that it was her stupid cat that ran out infront of me etc etc ,leave her to it and drive around the corner to home ,she then appears on the front of my house still ranting and crying , in the end i had to threaten her with the police to get rid of her

so in all a wonderfull day that left me wishing i had never left the house this morning

please dont turn this into a cyclist hate campaign or slanging match ,this is just what happened to me on this wonderfull bank holliday ,i wish i had just gone into work instead of trying to enjoy myself and relax

im beging to realise there is no enjoyment in driving anymore anywhere ,i dont go out to race on the roads i just want to enjoy a drive on some nice roads

Steve, it just wasn't going to happen was it. Have you thought about changing your name to Honorary Cherry.  Cheshire's local driving/riding standards rep.

Put it down to a bad day mate and march on or as Barry says go back to bed.

Bob :d

Lucky you could go home big man. I'm in Spain it's and it's pouring with rain (did you see what I did there :) ),I've done something to my foot and can,t walk properly to the point where I won the adult disco dancing last night and I was only crossing the floor to get to the bar.

Mind you lots of idiot cyclists here too but they're all on the pavement so would suit you sir .

My day was not what i wanted either.

I went up to York to race my very fast (for human powered) fully faired recumbent racing trike, (you'll have no idea nor be remotely interested in what i'm talking about so i won't bother to explain further). Although I have raced it at Monza, which is the best link to cars i can think of.

I was just warming up and testing the corners on a damp track, slowly increasing the speeds, trying to sort the best line on a tightening 270 degree hairpin, most of the time i get a gentle three wheel drift, or rear end out on the limit, but not on this track, there was too much grip!

Wham, over it went slithering off the track, ripping off the "roof" and destroying the light weight carbon/glass body, bending the steering and leaving me with literally a ground away hand (from the tarmac) and numerous other cuts and abrasions.

No kittens were killed!

So about 100 hrs of work destroyed in a few seconds

PS. that's the longest post I think I've seen on here, except perhaps when Scott "laced into" Norman a while back.

You're normally a man of few words Steve, so must be very wound up, grab a beer and sit in the sun.

im not wound up wuv ,just realised the roads are not what they used to be ,there full of idiot pedalists that think they own the road and everyone should give way to them ,i went out early to avoid traffic and pedalists but it was worse than ever , dont think driving is for me anymore im just not enjoying it , i used to absolutly love driving on quiete roads even in my van i used to enjoy it

but the roads are just mad these days , even car drivers are oblivious to anything around them , muppets sat on there phones and all sorts , i followed a girl in a new corsa the other day for about 7 miles just sat driving with her phone stuck to her ear ,obviously not giving a flying brown thing about anyone around her ,they should make phones that dont work while your car is running that would stop folk driving on the phone

old codgers driving around at 25 mph causing havoc around them ,not taking notice of what there doing just driving in there own little world

also cyclists should have to do a driving/riding test and have a licence same as the rest of us road users ,and wearing a helmet should be law also they should be alocated points for dangerous rinding and riding without due care and attention or just generally being a muppet on a bike

there is so many these days they are becomng more of a danger than ever and a danger to themselves

If you think it's bad now wait until the "Tour de France" starts in Leeds on July 5. I live close to Skipton (the tour passes through) and the hotels, b&b's, camp sites have been booked for over a year now. Predictions are for millions of visitors coming to watch the races.

Cycling will explode for months after the event.

If you don't like bikes on the roads a good date to have a long vacation abroad.

Cheers

A previous post has disappeared into the ether.

But you are right about the roads. I wait until everyone's back at work Mon-Fri then get my toys out, roads are quiet, pubs are quiet, can go "hairing around" frightening the old folks!!!

Cheers

Steve I think you were lucky the way you went as I often turn round and come home when the cyclists hold road races and the sheep wander casually onto the road on the fiddle just taunting you :-)
