Terry Everall
Biggest turn off is if there is only one god then which one is it? All regions think they are right but that impossible. The world has already suffered due to religious wars and differences ......we are just "clever " animals who have not yet survived along as the dinosaurs did and at the current rate of world conflict we won't get much further....... starvation, disease, pollution, poverty are the big issues
ACW
Humans all bet with their lives either that God exists or does not exist. Given the possibility that God actually does exist and assuming the infinite gain or loss associated with belief in God or with unbelief, a rational person should live as though God exists and seek to believe in God. If God does not actually exist, such a person will have only a finite loss. Blaise Pascal - Mathematician and Physicist.

pickmaster Andy Lowe
I'm in the none believer camp There are good men and there are bad men But only religion can turn a good man bad The world would be better off with out it and any thoughts of a second go at life If religion hadn't stood in the way of science we would have had a man on the moon in the Middle Ages When your gone your gone so don't mess it up
Michael Whitworth
Religion is born out of ignorance a need to control and a need to believe in something( to try to understand why we are here). The poorer the country/society, the more depraved the religion seems to be. As far as I am concerned All religion is fantasy. And when you die that's it you are no more. Your soul( if there is such a thing) is gone but your memory lives on in others.
Meakin
Another none believer here My swmbo and I live by the phrase "it's better to regret something you have done than something you haven't" Ie live life to the full the only proviso is to remember that other people only have one life too so try not to make it worse for them through your actions. jeff oakley
I too am a none believer in life after death, however I envy people who do believe in God as for the none radicals who do believe, they wear daily a suit of armour that no one can pierce. I had a worker who was a Banker who had burnt out and was ill, through all that his faith pulled him through. He then got Cancer and slowly and painfully died, through it all he had two priests who tended his spiritual needs, Rob Gilliard, who is on radio two in the morning and another from Radio 4. One was the Chaplin of the cancer hospital the other was his parish priest. He died with dignity and serenity as his faith in the promise of life at Gods right hand was so great it gave him strength that made him not full of self pity as there were people who were worse than him. It enabled him to bear his pain that others could not. His life was full of happiness and at his funeral the two priests did a joint service which was uplifting as they related how his faith had helped him to be rational about death and brought comfort to his loved ones. As James quoted, I live my life now as if it is the only one I have. I try to make a difference to others lives as I live mine, I try to be a good person because that is the right way to be and it does no harm if I am wrong and there is an after life. s2rrr
Agreed, this is not a rehearsal it's the main event. Make the most of it as you get only one shot. However if there is an afterlife, what a bonus that would be, I'll cross that bridge when the day comes. Bob

Cleggy the Spyder Man
Be interesting to see how the modern age, with its multiple, cheap and common methods of recording our own family, changes perceptions of future generations to their ancestors - just imagine in a few hundred years time being able to see quality images/video of family life from your ancestors that lived hundreds of years ago - seeing how they behaved, spoke and interacted with their loved ones Now off to go get into my time machine to see how my ancestors lived - don't worry I will take my video camera with me As for the original question - only one shot at this life and when your gone, your gone IMO. Hopefully if you have lived your life in the right manner you are deeply missed and fondly remembered by the ones that you hold dearest
Graham0127
Thing is , nobody knows......... What we do know is, you're born, you start to die, then you do. Some sooner than others. Just cram as much fun, love, booze and blatting in as you can.
Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO
I went to a funeral today, a lad I went to school with, he was one of the older lads in the class, I was one of the youngest, he was 66 and overweight and had massive stroke, pop, gone, that quick At school he was a fit lad, played football, captained Manchester boys, had trials for United and a few others, but it didn't work out for him, so he settled in a "proper" job and let himself go a bit. It's quite sad and a bit of an eyeopener when your mates from school start popping off. so yep as already said, this aint no dress rehearsal get on with life and make the most of it, your only going to get one chance.
