Being rather follically challenged I need to wear hats in the summer to stop my head from burning

For the more spirited drives the best thing I've found to date is the Buff headscalves

Here you go

Ebay item

I have the same problem with burnt bonce syndrome.  I have just bought a Musto Crew Cap (a baseball cap) which has a clip-on tether at the back that you can attach to your collar so if it does blow off, it can't go anywhere.  They are £15 on www.musto.co.uk.

Well I used a buff today and it works well, although not quite got the hang of turning it into hat yet. Just need to buy another one for my neck.
