Recommended Posts

Ok then, well with less than a week till I depart for overseas i had planned to pretty much get the build finished, however........

this morning my trusty drill has died, and the chuck is completely stuck so unable to use it.

So i need some recommendations for a new drill please.

I bought a Worx with lithium ion batteries, top bit of kit and seems to go for ever on a charge.

I use Ryobi One+ kit, I have 2 Li batteries and use Drill, Angle Grinder and oscillating multi-tool attachments (so far...)

I bought a Makita. Seems OK but I don't use it that often to give it a full road test.

Borrow one from a neighbour / friend, saving money for holiday booze. :t-up:

my work drill is a dewalt dcd980 http://www.toolup.com/images/Product/large/Dewalt-DCD980L2.jpg

it doesn't have hammer, but i mainly hole cut stainless steel

I find this to be a great piece of kit, batteries last forever. not the cheapest but you get what you pay for.

even has a little light on it which is supprisingly useful as an electrician :)

Another vote for DeWalt

DeWalt DCD985M2 18v Cordless XR Premium 3 Speed Combi Drill + 2 Lithium Ion Batteries 4.0ah

Delighted. So much stronger than my last Makita.

Pricey though

I generally prefer corded drills, but recently bought one of these Makitas from Screwfix: http://www.screwfix.com/p/makita-bhp453sh-18v-1-3ah-li-ion-cordless-combi-drill/58614?cm_sp=Search-_-SearchRec-_-Area1&_requestid=205815

As far as I can tell, it is identical to the more expensive one that a mate of mine has, just with a smaller (but more than adequate for most jobs given its charging time) battery.

It's a great bit of kit, and I don't think I've used my corded percussion drill since buying this, but I still find myself reaching for the SDS when it comes to making big holes.

I bought mine from toolstore, which, I think is another B & Q store.

It's similar to the one you link to but has 2 batteries. Mine was £99.99. On special offer.

Makita BHP453RFX 18V 3.0Ah Li-Ion

Awesome drill, battery and charger. Charges very quickly but lasts for ages. :)

Screw-Fix normally have some sort of offer on, up to 50% now and then!
