Fat Thor Posted May 25, 2013 Author Posted May 25, 2013 I looked into floor painting when I bought my new house. Consensus from those I spoke to was that it was only worth doing if I was going to take the time to use 2 pack epoxy - the cheap stuff having a tendency to lift (especially under hot tyres). Was advised to consider tiling as an alternative. Having looked into it in more detail, I'm pretty much sold on the idea of using plastic floor tiles - I like the Motortile ones the best - by the time the prep costs for painting are taken into account they're not much more expensive, and have the advantage of letting me complete the job in stages, offering some insulation, and being able to swap out damaged ones later. I do like the motor tite idea, do you have to cut them to fit or buy half tiles for the edges. thanks for all for the ideas! The garage is important place for men, have got myself in trouble with the wife as the garage painting has took priority over painting the kitchen....whoops. Quote
S2T Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Must say I was thinking of rubber horse mats as am building both a garage and stable block and thought said mats would be comfortable-ish for working on during the winter months Quote

Wile E. Coyote Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 This is what I have on my garage floor http://www.horsematsplus.co.uk/bubble-top-mats/?gclid=CPyZjZ7fsLcCFRMftAodGT8Aog Hmm, they're interesting (although I prefer the flatter ones they have) - might size those up to see what the relative price is vs the smaller car times. alexander72 Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 We have horse mats and a word of caution - if you are grinding/welding/hot work they will combust. Quote
