Norman Verona
Stephen, When will Birmingham comments end? You're the one giving all the bad press about Birmingham, everyone else is just reacting to your comments. Do you a deal, you can have a pound (that's a whole pound) off the cost of coming here for every week you can refrain from mentioning crashes, near misses, poor driving in Birmingham. s2rrr
Wouldn't leave my car on my own drive overnight, there's a mighty fine chance it wouldn't be there in the morning. FIA switch detachable steering wheels etc etc. Just a fair few handy chaps trying to make a living nicking other peoples kit. Wouldn't even leave it blocked in by my tin top they would vandalise it, some nice people walk past on the way home from the pub and mine is a reasonable area in Manchester's suburbs. They aren't all bad as most larger towns cities but it only takes on of the little darlings to want it or damage it, so I don't give them the opportunity. User0083
Bob, I have left my in many places. Car parks, on side roads and similar, while visiting people or going out for the day. My Westfield was my daily drive for two years... Only now not my daily drive.
s2rrr
I'm pleased that you can or could do that. I am not that sure the car would be where I left it so I won't tempt providence. My Mrs had her number plates nicked a couple of months ago and as I say its normally a decent enough area. Bob
Norman Verona
Being serious Stephen, I haven't seen anyone comment on your driving other than in jest. OK, you're on. CAN EVERYONE TAKE NOTE AND NOT MENTION BIRMINGHAM WITH REGARDS BAD DRIVING.

Clearly you reported it.
Meakin
I don't think you get much trouble on a drive to be honest. I used to live in a rough area in Leicester (the local pub was in the news a few years back) and had my kit car parked on the street. I lived there for 2 years and it never got touched and that includes the drunks walking past at night. On a drive I'm with Brian, if you are that worried get a car cover and cover it. You are highly unlikely for it to be touched. In my experience most pro-car thieves won't touch a kitcar with a barge pole as they are too distinctive and hard to get rid of. You're vandals won't touch it if they can't see it. Just my opinion/2p worth of course Paul
TAFKARM
i think I might just risk it with the cover and try and block it in as best I can. Bit concerned about past experience really, back in the day when I was living there, I had an Impreza crashed into by what i think was a drunk driver (it was on the drive!) and the roof slashed on the S2000 to get at the sat nav On the brightside, there is no roof to slash! Now I see why you're worried about leaving it out. Go to RSPCA and borrow a couple big nasty dogs. Chain them to the front wheels... However, with that history I hope you now know what you could do to try and prevent it. Were the scooby/S2K incidents in the area you're planning on leaving the Have you got a cover? TAFKARM
Yes afriad so, it my in old dears house that I used to live in... I've got a cover, I think I'm overly stressing out. Its insured.
User0083
Still... A isn't just a car and once damaged, even if repaired, never quite the same.
BEN99W
I've never worried where I leave mine as I always considered it virtually unstealable. Perhaps I'm naive but most people would have to spend 5 minutes even finding where to put the key if you gave it to them. As for disabling security systems, every westy is different, so its not like they can be learned. Then if it does get started it sounds like armageddon. Then there's the problem of disposing of something riddled with unique identifiables. There are plenty of far easier targets about. And as for vandalism, surely attacking a car that someone has built with their own hands, is asking to get murdered. Perhaps I'm crediting the perpetrators with more intelligence than they have. Norman Verona
The very few that do get stolen are usually broken for parts. Maybe that's better than having it recovered after a little scroat has been revving the nuts off it and doing doughnuts in Tesco's car park. My Escort Cosworth was taken from outside my house in the Peak District. He had to tow it away as he couldn't get past the alarm without a key. The boys in blue had an idea who it was and went to his house that afternoon. All the interior was out, the engine was on a crane ready to be removed. They asked him who's car it was and he told them it was some bloke in the pub who had asked him to break it. They searched and found the number plates in his very own dustbin. He got 6 months for it. BEN99W
But until you pull one to bits, you've no idea what its made from. Yes, could get lucky and have a bda, but could just as easily be a 200 quid lump from a breakers. and how can you sell bits when you don't even know what they are from?
