Norman Verona Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Eastenders and Coronation Street. I've never seen Eastenders and the last time I watched Coronation Street Ena Sharples was in the snug with her mates (can't remember their names). On the few occasions Eastenders starts before I get a chance to turn over it seems to me that they are always screaming at each other. Is this how people live now? As license payers you have a voice, use it to make sure the standards are kept high and intelligent programmes are broadcast. Quote
XTR2Turbo Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Just cancel Sky Steve , job sorted Don't have it myself , only thing that would tempt me is F1 ,but just can't be that bothered. This 1000 x over. Don't watch soaps, political debates, talent shows or big brother type programs. That just leaves TG, news, a bit of motorsport and occasional documentaries. Job done I do waste too much time on forums though .... Quote
Meakin Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 The only advantage of sky is eurosport, and the occasional good stuff (eg game of thrones - excellent series, racing car is born etc.) the rest is drivel. I live in a non-cable area so sky is the only choice. We have the basic package and a tivo to filter the rubbish out. Paul Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Not only is it non cable where I live, but the local geography means that we're marginal for the full set of Freeview Muxes off Winter Hill transmitter. Tried Freesat, not impressed. So Sky it is, I begrudge it, but if I dig among the lesser channels and check at odd times of the day, there's plenty on that I enjoy. I'm almost completely time shifted now though, it's very rare I watch anything live. But at least it makes it easy to filter out the adverts. Quote
M444TTB Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Sadly I watch far too much on Sky Atlantic to give it up. Then there's the F1 coverage, which is a must if you're really a fan Quote
User0083 Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Saw first advert I've seen for "Honey Boo Boo" Enough said. Quote
tolf Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 What a load of old sh*t Utter crap and a load of rubbish Back to quality programs such as Planet Earth, Attenborough etc Quote
Norman Verona Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Tolf, can't agree more. What are we going to do when he retires. I think the BBC are trying to find someone to carry on after him. So far I'm not impressed by any of the newer presenters. Quote
tolf Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 So far we have seen Brian Cox, and he is very smiley Chris Packham but a bit too geekey And the Scottish chap (Ian Stewart, I think) he us not bad Quote
User0083 Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Tolf, Norman, When he retires? What about when I retire? What state will TV be in then? At the moment I'm in the house, watching TV a lot due to injuries and the fact that walking through a busy city with a sling makes you an easy target. Rather than people helping, they push through aiming for the sling! God help elderly and disabled people!!! So being sat in sofa with the tele is unreal, usually best thing on is top gear re-runs... I've discovered most channels have a set 6 hours of programs on repeat for two days at a time! I thought this new TLC channel may be fun and interesting, but it's just freaks on TV for entertainment! Norman Verona Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 BIRMINGHAM Named as the most likely place to win the lottery. So, this proves, beyond any doubt, that Birmingham is the place to be. Quote
User0083 Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Where's that come from Norman? Would that bit just mean that Birmingham residents buy more lottery tickets that the rest of any other population mass? When hearing about lottery winners there's always lots not wanting to be named... Are they all from Birmingham and don't want the rest of Birmingham knowing? If I won the lottery... (Yawn)... I'd publicise it and vanish to Australia! I think people not publicising it wish to stay within the area they live pre win. I'd not publicise it due to the fact that I'd waste it all and want to continue life after it's all gone! I'd invest in a garage under ground somewhere, with a little 3 bed house on top. In the garage would be a Caterham CSR, Westfield mega busa, Westfield mega S2000, Pagani zonda (the model made of naked carbon fibre... R I think) and a new M5, orange with carbon fibre roof!!! Quote
SteveD Posted May 12, 2013 Author Posted May 12, 2013 thought it was stoke they said was the luckiest place to live as they had the most lottery winners ,thats what its been saying on the radio all week Quote
Norman Verona Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 They said it on the lottery draw last night. I turned the TV on to watch Casualty and it some chap asking people in Birmingham what they'd do if they won the lottery. One chap was going to give his mum 3 million, his sister 2 million, spend another million on a house and then buy a nice car. Isn't that nice. Quote
