DavidBirchZEI220
I have booked my first track day in July and wish to book some insurance. I will contact my regular insurer but would be grateful to benefit from others experiences. What's the typical extra premium? Are there any specialists that just insure trackdays? Any pitfalls? Thanks in advance David
Blatman
Eggar Lawson (AKA Competiton Car Insurance) on 0115 941 5255, are the most popular choice. They will cover for a specified amount, ie 5K, 7K, 10K, or whatever. The excess will be high, and you can only insure for accident damage. You can't insure the engine/gearbox/diff against failure, and they may not be covered even if they are damaged as a result of the accident. Cover may only extend to parts only, rather than parts and labour, so I'd get a copy of their t's & c's, and read all the smallprint very carefully. Bronco Jr
Its worth checking your existing policy. If it does not specifically exclude "track days" thenyou may be covered. A friend of mine sucessfully argued that his Elise ploicy was valid for a Nurburg ring trip as it was NOT racing, pacemaking, time trials. He has a leter frm the underwriters to prove it. My insurance, Adrian Flux, excludes Track Days specifically. Decided against insurance as the cost was prohibitave (will spend a week going round in circles, quite sad realy) Hope this helps
