Mid life crisis
Purchased mine at 49 as I needed something to give me the adrenalin rush For about 6 years previously I had got the hit through being a hooligan in our powerboat. Sadly Windermere had the speed ban imposed

GuitarmanUK
I was in my mid 30's when I started to build a Westfield. I got 60% and 3 years in to it before the finances and a family got the better of me and I had to sell it. I was 49 when I bought my Zero kit and it hit the road 1 year ago and was registered on my 51st birthday!
KugaWestie
My Father and I built a Locost7 Crossflow live axle car when I was mid twenties. We sold it after about 12 months as I moved out and he sold the house for a smaller one, and neither of us had a garage/room for it, so it had to go I bought my current Westfield in October 2011 as a pretty much unstarted kit and got it through IVA 159 days later
Tyson
49 years young when i bought my first and so far only Westfield. 30 + years with Motorcylces beforehand.
s2rrr
I was 18 when I first priced up a 7 type kit (lotus) and at £960( for the whole kit) it was a bit pricey for an apprentice on about £10/wk to be able to afford. Got the Westfield kit almost 50 years later when the full cost was waaaaaaaaaay more at 30 times that price. Bob
Onliest Smeg David
Got my first 7 type car well before I could drive. . . . . . . Sadly it was only a few inches long. . . In my 47th year I finally gained a full size one!
KenP
27 Steve that must be a prediction because 27 must be a few years off yet! OK you have all guessed it I need some chassis work doing so I am shamelessly trying flattery to get a discount :d
Mark (smokey mow)
I built my first 7 kit whist I was still in Junior School It was 20 years later before I could afford the real thing
Doug Dastardly
I'd fancied building one since my early twenties and got as far as the factory for a test drive when I was maybe 22 ish. I decided that as I could only just fit in and the screen trim was in my eyeline, and on the theory that I could build a car when older but doubted that I'd learn to ride a bike when older......I did my bike test instead. I had bikes in the mean time (and fell off twice) and was on my way home from a CSS course at silverstone when I thought I'd see if I could fit in a car with lowered floors. My idea was, if I could, I would look second hand. My problem was that what I really wanted was to build one This coincided with a life assurance policy maturing (I was not happy at my parents for making me start it at 18 but guess who knows best ) It paid out way over the guaranteed bonus ( not a problem anyone is going to have in the future ) so guess where the excess went? Was 37 when I got my kit, and 39 when I got it on the road after an 18 month build. My problem now is that I still have a bike but just not enough time to make all the £'s worth while. I'm contemplating selling it, although I think I'd have to buy something cheap and fun just to keep my hand in. Sorry, you probably didn't want my life story.
