  1. Hi, I have a Seight with the usual arrangement for the radiator, I.e it “floats” in the nose cone. I’ve seen brackets which hold / support the radiator which makes things easier when removing the nose. Does anyone have the designs for such a thing or know where they can be obtained/ bought
  2. (NOW SOLD)ProAlloy Water Radiator From Single Seater ....Made by none other than Carl Nunn! (no, I've no idea either) No longer required - I bought this a few years ago as part of a grand plan to add a water cooling circuit for turbocharger cooling on my other project. It's just a little too big to accommodate where I would like to install it. Which is a real bummer, because it's a lovely thing, very light and nicely made....but would cost more to modify than to start with the right size matrix from the beginning. I bought this from Steve @ SBD Motorsport, it was only used a few times on his one of his hillclimb/sprint cars before he got upgrade-itis [tut] Like I said, never been used while in my possession, so looking to move it on....perfect if you're a weight-weenie working on a competition car! Approximate dimensions: Width = 323mm Height = 350mm Core thickness = 20mm Tank Depth (thickness) = 30mm Mounting centres pitch = 274mm Water inlet/outlet pitch = 302mm, c-c Water inlet/outlet diameter = 25mm Weight = 1330gms as it stands (empty....of course) £100 + shipping

    Help indentifying radiator

My car is suffering with overheating on track, so need to change the radiator for a thicker unit. I have not found any markings on it, not any pics of other westys with a similar one. So wanted to see if someone could help me identifying it, here are the pics of mine. Thanks

    Seight Radiator Mounting

Hi All, Did a bit of work on the seight the other night which necessitated removing the nose cone, I found that the radiator is mounted to the cone and not the chassis, i.e take the cone off and the radiator comes with it. I doubt this is the best solution (although it appears to work fine) due to the weight etc and I think it was done when a past owner fitted a higher spec rad. I'll probably look at mounting it "properly" over the winter but wondered if anyone has any thoughts or pointers? Are there brackets etc available? or is it a fabrication job? I have no detail about the rad other than "high capacity alloy" which isn't a lot to go on I know. Comments and particularly photo's would be much appreciated. Cheers

    Pinto troubles

Hi all, Got my membership sorted so hopefully some kind people can offer some advice. I have a 1990 narrow that runs a 2L pinto. When I got the car it was in quite a state, it's a bit better now, but very much still a project! It didn't run at all. Now it runs after an electrical fault was sorted, new battery, timing sorted etc. It passed it's MOT and I then taxed it. All fine. It was then after some longer drives (only a few miles) that another gremlin reared it's head. On the first trip of a few miles, it overheated horribly and vented a load of coolant on to the road. We let it cool off and then a day or so later took it out again and it over heated once more. So then I took the following steps. - Checked the thermostat and replaced the 92c for an 88c (checked the thermostat worked in pan before fitting) - Used two stage rad flush and filled with new coolant. Put it all back together and still overheating. So I then - Swapped out the thermostat for an 82c (drilled a 3mm hole in the thermostat too) - Took of the water pump for inspection which seems ok, is there anything specific to look for? The current set up has a radiator with a pressure cap and no expansion tank. Whilst the radiator allows water through, would it be worth replacing it with a Polo unit and adding an expansion tank to the set up. At the moment the current system vents to the road via an outlet on the radiator filler neck. Or shall I put it back together as is with the 82c thermostat and see where that gets me. I also did a compression test and got 160ish on all four cylinders. The engine as far as i know is standard apart from it has R1 carbs fitted. Any ideas or advice would be great. Thanks

    Ducted Nose Radiator

After getting my car back on the road yesterday and after driving 120 miles, my car decided to drop its coolant all over the driveway when I got home. A perished hose to blame, but while I'm at it I'm going to replace the radiator (its 18 years old and showing signs of being had it) Question - is the standard polo rad the one for the ducted nose? Any particular one I need? Cheers Jocker

    Radiator - best option?

My 95 SE Narrow came with a much modified Vauxhall Viva radiator. No pressure cap as it has two bottom ends. It's ok but heavy and bulky and has been dented to allow the nose to go over - just! No means of bleeding air out. I'm told by the Locost racers that they use a VW Polo Rad but there are so many different part numbers and models. Can anyone advise best option please? Preferably a spurious cheaper part than official veedub. The engine is a Pinto SOHC. Many thanks in advance

    Radiator replacement

Looking to replace polo rad at some point as slight staining near bottom outlet pipe, so better to replace now rather than breakdown somewhere. Having looked through other posts concerning radiators I have a question. My question is: The standard polo rad will work fine with 2.0 Blacktop but like the idea of the uprated rads (claim is 35% better) that go for a lot more money (£250 ish) than seems sensible. A standard rad of fle bay is about £25 so quite a differance in costs. Has anybody swaped from the cheaper option to the more costly one and what differance did it make if any? Terry
