  1. Hi folks, I'm a newby member. Bought my 2000 kit build SE Narrow as a resto project from Bangers and Cash almost exactly 2 years ago. I'm an old fart, well into pensioner age and this was acquired as a 'memory lane' project having, in my late twenties, briefly owned an S2 Lotus 7 wearing 'The Prisoner' make-up. Upon collection from Pickering, closer inspection of the more or less stock 1600 Kent revealed that it had visibly blown a core plug and the decision was therefore made to carry out a 'zero hour' restoration on the whole car. The chassis was in pretty good nick for an exclusively track day'd car but everything else was tired. So, what have we done last year, this year, this week and today? Rear axle and brakes have been totally reworked with Quaife ATB LSD. Type 9 gearbox has been totally reworked. Front brakes are now Wilwood 4 pot. Rad has been flushed and restored. Engine build has been in the capable hands of Roger at Aldon Automotive in Brierley Hill, the work starting with a bare block chemical clean. Build has lightened flywheel, balanced and uprated bottom end and HD Helix clutch. Also has 244 cam, Duplex Vernier with access cover, Burton 2A big port/big valve head, HP oil pump, Samco hoses, Facet fuel pump, pressure regulator, new twin 45 DCOE's on Mangoletsi, uprated water pump with new alternator and Gates Tooth belt drive, Aldon electronic ignition and throwback lighting including headlight baskets and Lucas 1130 Torpedo sidelights. Car is in Westfield BRG with now of course, an LO7 yellow nosecone! Proper screen is waiting in my workshop together with wiper kit. Home made screen pillars (aka original Carbuilder/Lotus 7 style) yet to be formed from 5mm sheet ally. Stainless sheet ready to be English Wheeled to fit rear arches. Original Federal tyres had aged to consistency of concrete and (experimentally) replaced with Davanti Protoura road/track boots from Demon Tweeks. Bookend shots were at Bangers & Cash. Work in progress pics were taken at Aldon at beginning of year. Cost? Enough to initiate divorce procedings if my management finds out. Plans? Well here's a clue. I live 6 miles from Shelsley Walsh. Plus a mandatory photo shoot at Portmeirion! Best, NotMcGoohan

  2. Here are some of the embarrassing photos of my retirement presentation. I did redeem myself by driving the Westfield into the factory, what could they do? Sack me?

  3. Almost 2 years since this was on the road, it feels great. I was thinking about how times change - 20 years ago by comparison with most normal cars it was light and quick, but now it's tiny, light and still quick. Almost more fun than ever, because it makes small roads feel reasonably sized again!

  7. I've been thinking about ordering these for some time and finally got round to ordering them a week or so ago, and they arrived this week. I wanted a matching pair, and for my daughter to have the security of a six point harness to eliminate the risk of her slipping under the lap belts of the four point. I got the two free key rings (so I should think for the cost of the harnesses!) which match the car colours quite well. I've gone for the ultralite adjusters, and was very pleased with them when I drove to our meet last night.

  12. @matt rule put a roof box on his car. Not a Westfield and has insane power but maybe he can comment about how he did it and how well it works.

  13. I do enjoy a summers evening run, possibly even more so that a summer daytime run. The roads are quieter and the temp is better.

  14. A set of half moon obstruction spanners from B & Q so I can finally remove the 22mm nut on the motor mount securing it to the frame. Said mount is blocking me from withdrawing the right bottom rear wishbone bolt that the original builder installed before he installed the motor mount, motor and bodywork, rendering access with a conventional spanner or socket impossible. This job is killing me bit by bit...

  15. Lots of twisty turny roads plus a McD on the way will resolve the sickness one way or another!! Enjoy your jelly throwing party and try to be good ( I know that last bit is really difficult) With regards to my Mother I’m simply looking after my inheritance and making sure big bro doesn’t get it all 🤪

  16. We’re good for Sunday 🤗 but I’ll paint the picture now !!!! At a birthday party on Saturday 🎉 we won’t be hungover as it’s a 2 & 4 year olds but there’s a bouncy castle 🤪 🤡 and jelly/ ice cream 🍦and cake 🎂 so acheing and feeling bloated/sick might be on the agenda, and we loose an hours beauty sleep as the clocks go forward. See you there 👍 ps @AndrewBClarke my mom has let me come out to play because I’ve been good, I don’t need to go butter her up 🤣

  18. Thanks for the continued support and kind donations from the great people in this club. However, I'm still way off target, so if anyone else wishes to be generous, that would be great!- Just giving- Bagpuss running the Great Manchester Run I ran the Wilmslow 1/2 yesterday in training. Great to run with @6carjon & @David lear

  19. Highly recommend @Maurici- CleaR Motorsport for his car geometry set up service 😎👌 Corner weighting and geometry done on my car after I converted my wishbones to fully Rose jointed. Great value and excellent knowledge on the settings and explains the differences settings should make. Wet drive home so couldn't push the car but felt very stable with noticeable differences in how it turns in etc👍

  23. Cheers Steve! I confess I started to regret it a bit on the journey there as I thought I had forgotten to bring my gloves! The return was better as I found my gloves and my silly warm hat too, so was relatively warm, despite no roof or heater Big shout out to @colin homewood who, even at 82, never lets anything get in the way of bringing his Westie!

  25. I was also thinking that the south wales aviation museum is worth a visit. It’s not too far from the old post baffle haus, so could be worth meeting up at baffle haus for breakfast and then a quick blast to the aviation museum at some point. The old post gets busy quite quick though, so getting there close to 9am would be recommended, which I appreciate might not be ideal for people coming from further away.

  26. I’m thinking about coming along to the 5 zeros meet on the 6th. I haven’t driven the Westfield yet this year, so really need to get out in it. I’m coming from south wales so it’s a bit if a boring drive, but I might set off early and try and avoid the motorway as much as possible. it will be really weather dependent for me as well. Do we need to book or is it just turn up there? Anyone meeting in the way?

  38. I think one of those aerodynamic roof boxes would be a better idea IF it can be attached safely of course. Given the talented 'spanner and fabricated handy' people on WSCC, I'd think it would be fairly easy for some of you to mount one securely
