Finally got to pick the car up today and got it home on one of the only dry days we are going to have for a good few days lol Thanks to Toybox Cars Its a 2.0 Ford Pinto with dual 45 webers, hopefully in the new year I shall start playing around with the engine a bit more, maybe a nice new head and cam from Burton power and then see what kind of power I can get from it. But for now will enjoy it as is well when we get some decent weather haha12 points

Notice of Correction – Lakes & Dales Tour 2 Please note that the Lakes & Dales Tour 2 advertised in the Westfield World Winter Edition 2025 magazine contains an error. The dates listed as 22nd–23rd June are incorrect; the event will in fact take place on 15th–16th June. In addition, One day remains a tour of the Lake District & the other a tour of the Yorkshire Dales, not the Peak District as previously stated. We apologise for any confusion caused and thank members for their understanding.8 points

New 9 inch puller fan plus brackets and controller from Revotec to go onto the XI's radiator. Should work more efficiently than the awful bracket that the kit comes with that blocks 30% of the surface area. Brackets not fully fitted at this point - just positioned it all on the rad for photo attention.5 points

Testing the waters to see if there is interest in my XI, sad to say am selling because getting in and out is proving to be a major problem and so driving hours have been much diminished. I will get some additional photos and details in a few days, but its fully running, managed to do a single Track Day this summer and the car is fully sorted and comes with a bunch of spare parts. Materially upset about taking this course of action, but I don’t have a Museum and none of my kids drive a stick shift. Purchased off BaT in 2021 and got it sorted and ready to track and drive on nice roads. Will probably put it on BaT in the New Year if I can’t sell through the Forum. Would like to get $42,500.00 for the car. Send me a pm to discuss or reply here and I will get back to you.5 points

THE FORECAST IS RAIN SO THIS IS CANCELLED IF THE WEATHER IS FAVOURABLE meet at Cupola, Stoney Middleton, Hope Valley, S32 4TF on Sunday 21 December, 10am. You can dress festively if you like, but this is not the usual santa run and we won't be particularly dressed up. The usual good spirit and lots of laughs will accompany us, I can assure you. We will head onto the great Peak District roads for a jolly good drive round, have lunch, before finishing early afternoon so you can get home in the light. Members only on the run out please, keep it fair for those that pay. Fingers crossed for good weather, I will update this post nearer the time. Who's joining us? CANCELLED3 points

For my business I use Palletline. They take heavy large items on a 3 to 5 working day turnaround and are much better than the ‘norm’. You don’t have to wrap or apply labels as they will do that for you. Depends on location etc but normal price range is £50 to £60. My local depot is Caistor Distribution on 01472 851812 and they would sort out a price and give you details of your local agent.2 points

I'll try and get along, even if it's in the pickup. (Westfield has only had a very short test drive since changing the regulator, before rain stopped play. So don't know for sure if fuel pressure issue is fixed yet.)2 points

Thank you both. I am trying Shiply now 🤞 Also trying DPD again and Royal mail again Thanks Ian2 points

Those Subaru Brats were great cars for fun in the 70s. The rear jump seats in particular were great and probably plenty lethal but still fun and legal back then. You could ride in the back and chat with pretty girls at traffic lights (and potentially meet up with them later) and drink beer at the same time because the alcohol wasn’t in the cab of the truck itself, so legal 👍. Also, you could park backwards at a drive-in movie theatre and sit in the back in the warm evening nights. Of course, being the angel 😇 that I was (and still am), I did not participate in those sorts of things. Oh no…2 points

Well, the forecast is not exactly dry and there is little interest so sadly I will be cancelling this event. The next event will be on Saturday 27th December, meeting at the car museum, Ambergate, DE56 2HE at 10am. It is the Twixmas Car Meet, entrance is £5 per car, members of the museum go free. We won't stay all day, just long enough to have a trot around the other cars on display before going for our own trot around the Peak District. I will start another and separate event for this though, nearer the time. While I have your attention may I just also mention our usual New Years Day meet? mmm, a tricky one, I am working 6am-10am so if the weather is good and we do decide to meet, it will be a touch later than normal. That probably suits you as you can at least have a lie in and recover from the previous nights activities. Stay posted and hopefully we will get together at some point over the Christmas holidays.1 point

Give Transglobal Express a try as well. They punt it out to a variety of carriers and have always been excellent in my experience.1 point

Hi Ian, I just got some parts from south Wales that were collected and labelled by Royal Mail. They picked up from the address and supplied the label, I must stress was considerably lighter though at 20kg. i also had the same service from DPD but the seller will need to print the label off for you and package everything as will Royal Mail. DPD will do the weight but not sure on cost as I didn’t pay I was the seller. Have you tried any private couriers near to the seller? I bought some alloys a couple of years back and I found a courier near the seller they collected and delivered for £70. Hope you find a solution. Ross1 point

Please note that several posts have been hidden as they were about the qualities of SEights in general and not this car for sale, and were therefore off topic and against club policy in adverts in order to help sellers and buyers alike - thank you.1 point

I’ve been trying to find an opportunity to take my Mum out in the Westfield she helped me buy pretty much since I reacquired it, but somehow it never quite happened. Finally though, the stars aligned on Tuesday. I took the day off for another less pleasant reason in the morning, but that meant I could head up from Crewkerne to Wokingham in the afternoon to see Mum on her 90th birthday, in the Westfield of course. I had some great views of Stonehenge both ways, and it was lovely in the twilight heading home. After various friends had left, I persuaded her to tog up and come out for a spin. Getting her in was not too much of a challenge, and she was snug with the 6 point harness although could have done with a cushion as she could barely see over the dashboard! We headed out through Hurst and Twyford, hitting some sticky traffic at times, but then had a wonderful run back along the B3018 and the Straight Mile and home. She was very brave, didn’t squeal once and actually really enjoyed it. I’m not sure her hair will ever be the same though 🤣. The funniest part was, of course, getting her out again. It took a few goes and I have a hilarious speeded up video of it which I will keep private to save her blushes. So, there can’t be many 90 year olds who’ve been in a Westfield at a decent lick on their birthdays! She will be dining out on that one for a while 👍1 point

I have to say I envy you Stuart. I lost my mum this year and she was never well enough to come out with me. Treasure these moments - I'm sure you will.1 point

Er, wet, possibly and yes! With a bit more detail: in the wet, you will get wet, how much very much depends on the type of Westfield and how it's been put together, but even the best fitting hoods etc aren't entirely water tight, so you will get odd wet patches in really, really bad weather. Essentialy there are two extremes of wet weather adaption, most of us fall somewhere between. 1. Full weather gear with some re-finishing/modification for improved fit and sealing. Lots of attention to detail at the build stage with the sealant, keeping the cockpit as water tight as possible, ditto making sure electrics and electronics are installed with a view to wet weather performance and using contact grease like Contralube in ALL electrical joins etc to keep out moisture. 2. Remove windscreen and all soft trim, use plastic shell seats with neoprene pads, use IP rated switch gear on dash, and IP rated instrument(s). Drill strategic holes in floor and seats for water to escape. Same process as above of protecting the electrics. Locate electronics in dry spots or consider IP rated enclosures if necessary, (unlikely, but it's an option). - Essentially, build the car so that it can get drowned in rain without being harmed! With option 2. In bad rain, use all in one rain over suit, motorbike style, along with full face helmet.1 point
