I went out for the first proper drive ever (after 600 miles) by myself. Glorious sunshine and decent roads. Maybe I enjoyed myself too much, as 'Life360' (the app we use to keep track of family members) reckoned I had 35 'risky events' over 47 miles...😬. I ended up at my usual haunt (Elstree Aerodrome) for a cup of coffee. One day I'll find a nice vintage aeroplane for the XI to pose against 😃.18 points

Huge thanks to everyone who joined us at the Silverstone Festival with WSCC – whether you managed a day or braved the whole weekend! Plenty of laughs, plenty of cars, and a few lessons learned along the way… namely: if you leave your phone at a club meeting, be prepared for “alternative perspectives” appearing on it later. Also, note to self (and everyone else): feet are not a recognised photographic subject with cars! Apparently! A slight change to the format next year means that the event will be rescheduled and renamed possibly back to the Silverstone classic but either way hope to see more of you next year! HB look out for the ITV4 film about Silverstone festival. September 21st 2025, I was advised.16 points

My first official recognition! A respectable 3rd Place at the 2025 Boeing - Renton car show (out of about 40-50 cars). I was bested by a 1982 Ferrari 308 GTB Quattrovalvole, and a well restored 1968 Dodge Coronet 440 6-pack. Given that competition, I was more than pleased with the Westfield's first showing. Lots of people stopped to look and ask questions, and everyone loved it. Some knew about Caterhams, but Westies are pretty rare around here. I lost track of how many times I had to unlatch the bonnet to give people a peek at the Duratec.14 points

I guess we really have done it now. Collected today and really pleased after a 60 mile journey along all kinds of roads. Deaf in one ear, blind in one eye, forgot to take my hat and my driving glasses, but we came home doorless and topless (ooh, err) even with a light sprinkle of rain. Chuffed to bits, now it’s time to learn the ways of it. Expect many questions, but for now bask in the glory of our yellow ray of sunshine ☀️13 points

We arrived early at Quackers Soon the troops arrived with Glynn next A last minute decision (escape) from Jake Paul and Margaret then I was too busy chatting to photograph any more arrivals This is the full quota of cars, 7 sevens so today we were the 49ers We sunbathed on the terrace at Quackers cafe After a catch up we set off on our route, up the hill towards the Longshaw Estate past fifty thousand cyclists puffing away, glorious scenery down surprise view and on to Winnats Pass. It was never going to be a clear run on a sunny Sunday in August so we just enjoyed the alpine scenery as we drove in second gear with the engine at 90 degrees. Up and over Mam Nick to get to the Rambler Inn for midday. The 'small' lunches arrived thick and fast Here we are parked in the scenic car park at The Rambler Inn Who fancies cake? We carefully chose the route to avoid the tourists and had a good run to the Cupola Cafe, which also has a very scenic car park Wait for it Intensley chocolatey torte But oh Glynn stole the show with his Bailey's Bread and Butter Pudding, just look at the size of it!! Andrew came for a comparison and was very disappointed, where is @Andy Westwood when you need him? We've had a fantastic day, what colour are her eyes? Double D, still laughing at that one! and the wonky indicators? hilarious. Also my intermittent indicators? a loose connector, all fixed so I can stand down my right arm signals for now. Thanks for a brilliant day out guys, apparently we are going to Silverstone next weekend so maybe we'll see you in a fortnight, kiss kiss xx13 points

Almost two years late, but I've managed to get my 40th birthday present sorted: A flight experience at Goodwood, in their Harvard. I had an amazing time, and got to fly her for maybe 5 mins whilst we were up,followed by a suitable amount of aerobatics. It turns out, if you don't clench hard enough, you really can start to grey out at the bottom of a 4g loop. 😮 Quick in-flight selfie: The view out over the wing, showing Thorney Island: An ever so slightly adrenaline filled me: I may take up wearing flight suits, as they're rather slimming.12 points

Lovely run over Clee Hills this morning with my lad. Good couple of hours, before the roads got busy. Stopped at this spot for a break, and a lovely chap who was there on a bike came over for a chat. Turned out he worked at Westfield on our cars in the 90s developing things like the V8 and a lot of other things that were still in my car now. He had some great stories. After we left, wished I'd got his name.12 points

It has started to become an annual event for us in Derby & Notts to do a trackday our two so a bunch of us had booked the Opentrack Donington GP evening for the 1st September. We were all nervously weather watching all weekend as it looked like rain, thankfully we needn't have worried as we had amazing weather! Sadly @Steve Bosworth @Naranja_Al and @Glynn Walters couldn't make it so we ended up with five cars with 5 different engines..... @Tim Coles in his 280+bhp ecoboost engined SEIW @Nick Mucklow in his 185bhp Duratec Silva Striker. Nick had taken Glynn's spot at the last minute. @DanDB in his 200bhp Zetec SEIW @ben1975 in his 180bhp R1 MNR Vortex Myself in the MegaS2000 We also had a load of spectators, including Tony, Rachael, Iain, Hedley, Tim's son, and Jonny (my brother in law who had come for his first track experience). Great to see you all, and thanks for cheering us on! Waiting for the briefing, we were all surprised and delighted to see @Simon Waterfall Syman84 who had brought one of his BMW race cars for a shakedown before the next round at Croft this weekend. Simon has graduated from the Sprint Series, through MX5 racing and now is a multiple race winner in the BRSCC BMW 1 Series Supercup, I was looking forward to seeing the car on track! After the sighting laps, we sat out the first 10 mins and were amazed that there were no red flags.... time to get out on track! With Jonny strapped in my passenger seat, we all headed out slowly building up our pace. We spotted Ben on the grass at one point, thankfully was fine and had pulled off due to a sticky throttle. Thankfully, he made it back to the garage and was seconds to sort (debris under the pedal). Having a look at laptimes, I was pleased to see I'd managed to get into the 1m54's with two 16 stone blokes on board and a lot of traffic to pass. I'd been a little worried how Jonny would find the experience but he absolutely loved it, getting out of the car with rhe biggest of grins! My last (and first) time on the GP circuit two weeks ago had seen me get down to 1m52.6 running solo and felt I could improve on that... so I went out for a run without a passenger to really wring it's neck! A few laps later I headed in to check my times and was so pleased to see I'd managed a 1m50.5, much, much better. I think im going to need some tuition to get much quicker than that.... I had been running with and passing a couple of race winning Ginettas (a G40 from the 750MC roadsports and a stunning 60's G4R that has had many class wins in the HSCC and CSCC). The G4R in particular was amazingly fast and consistent, taking beautifully clean lines, he had far more talent than me! The other guys had also been charging round, getting in very quick laps in the 1m56 to 2m0 range, we had a great atmosphere in the garage 😂 Heading back out with Jonny riding shotgun again, we had only just got to Redgate when I saw Simon in the BMW 1 Series looming in the mirrors! I pulled aside to let him by, then set about chasing him down the Craners. It was amazing fun following him for a couple of laps, a fabulous opportunity for someone of my meagre talents to watch a pukka race driver's lines and braking points up close. We had a bit of traffic on occasion but were pushing hard when the track was clear. The memories of chasing him down the Craners at over 100mph, throwing the cars through the Foggy Esses, and then sideways trail braking into the hairpin are truly bucket list stuff 👌 Back in the pits and still buzzing, we were all comparing laptimes. Ben who had been lapping in the 1m56 bracket was pulling my leg about my Racechrono app being about 5 seconds optimistic vs his far more expensive AIM Solo he has fitted to the bike engined MNR 😂. Challenge accepted, we went out in tandem so he could follow me round and either prove or disprove the myth! With Ben clamped to the FW rear end, we charged round for a brilliant couple of laps through a bit of traffic before he got over enthusiastic on the power exiting from the Melbourne hairpin and had a harmless low speed spin.... it looked brilliant in the mirrors 😂 In the garage, we compared times and he had managed his personal best. My Racechrono app had me at 1m51.88, with his AIM Solo registering his lap at 1m51.79, result! It is amazing how closely matched his light bike engined car is to my heavier car engine over a lap. Nick, Dan and Tim had also been charging around, making the most of the fading light. Tim had swapped his new wheels/tyres for the R888R's he'd all but worn out on the hairpins of the Alps trip (his son had brought them in his daily), these were totally destroyed by the end of the day 😂 It was a fantastic evening, all cars ran faultlessly and everyone was safe, and all had a great time. Track etiquette was generally pretty good and we only had one red flag (the G40 had a gravel trap excursion). As always, you get some fantastic photos as a memento, here's a few I've downloaded and edited. Simon and Dan at the Old Hairpin Dan chasing Nick through Coppice Tim proudly displaying the 2024 Alps Peaky Blatters stickers on the side heading up from Mcleans Ben chasing me down the Craners on our 1m51.8 lap. Chasing down the beautiful (and very fast!!) Ginetta G4R through the Old Hairpin Heading down the Craners Using up the last of the sunshine! Simon looking focused! Tim and Dan at Coppice Nick pushing hard at the hairpin11 points

After getting the MOT done on the MegaS2000 on Tuesday afternoon, I foolishly decided the best way to get my eye back in was to do a track day 😂. Nabbing a cancellation with Open Track at Wednesday lunchtime for the same evening at Donington, I rang Howden to get my insurance sorted. My annual cover includes 5 free track days, and takes just a few minutes to get sorted (fab service as always!). After lunch I swapped my out my cat for the decat pipe, checked fluids, torque settings, and pressures, chucked some tools in the boot plus spare wheels/tyres in the youngests mighty Corsa before we headed to Donington. In my excitement, I'd not realised until the driver briefing that I'd booked the full GP circuit... Only then did the realisation set in that I was facing a track layout I'd never used in a car I'd not driven at all for 4 months on tyres I've never used before (Nankang AR1's).... On top of that, local members John, Hedley, Tony, Glynn and Ben had all come along to watch, so no pressure 😂 During my last Donington track day in mid 2024, I was black flagged for noise (hitting a beautiful sounding 103.5db under the gantry vs the 98db limit!) and knew it was induction noise from the ITB's.... recently I'd picked up a PX600 airbox to help with this so fitted it in the paddock while we were waiting for the driver briefing. When test fitting, the airbox is a very "snug" fit under the bonnet so despite trying various adaptors, I can't run any of my filters.... as I will only run it on track I'm currently investigating fitting a 100mm turbo mesh, watch this space... I'll also be playing around with the fitment as the bottom of the ITG backplate doesn't quite fit the Pipercross airbox meaning a bit of duct tape is needed (it's securely and works, but isn't pretty 😂). After the sighting laps, I took to the track with my youngest riding shotgun managing a leisurely 2m01s fastest lap. Thankfully nothing fell off and all the temps were good. The weather was amazing and we had loads of stunning cars on track, including Radical, GT3RS, Ferrari, M4, M3, M5 etc. I am by no means an experienced track driver (having only done Donington National 4 times) but I have been steadily improving my lap times on each visit. Last year on the National circuit I'd managed to get down to 1m21.0 (1m23.1 with a passenger), so knew I was well off my normal pace (with the 30 seconds "rule of thumb" added for the Melbourne loop). My 2024 National personal best on 185/60 R888R and 235/45 Kumho V70a tyres: My next passenger run saw me down to sub 2 minutes but knew I hadn't got rid of the rustiness quite yet. Ben shared with me his GP layout laptimes from 2024 in his R1 engined MNR (1m54) and Michael messaged me to say he'd managed a 1m54.5 with a passenger in his Hyabusa powered MK Indy. While the MegaS2000 is a lot heavier than Ben's or Michael's bike engined cars, I've always managed to be competitive with them over a lap of Donny, so knew I could push on a bit more. Now a bit more focused with confidence in the tyres building, I went for a solo run to try and explore the cars limits a bit more. Finally it was starting to click and I could push on, getting to the limit of grip. I pulled back in with a big grin!! Racechrono showed me that despite a bit of traffic I'd hit a 1m52.5 and that if I'd strung together all the fastest sectors I'd have been at 1m51.7. On this solo run, I'd been playing with a Fiesta ST race car. Chatting to the driver (Aaron Lali) in the paddock afterwards, this slick shod 200+bhp car is a class winner in the Modified Ford Championship and he was using the laps as testing. He was really sending it on track, so I'm not sure he was overly impressed that a fat old bloke managed to catch and pass him 😂 On our final passenger run, we managed to catch, pass, and then pull away from the MacG Racing MK Indy (running a 2.0 Zetec on ITB's). Race drivers Josh Tomlinson and Johnny Macgregor were sharing their race team prepped car, so with a passenger onboard I needed all of the extra 70 ish bhp of the Honda as we had no advantage in the corners. Having a look at Racechrono in the paddock, we had managed to get down to 1m53.1 (optimal of 1m52.4) with a passenger. Not bad at all! We had run out of time at this point so wasn't able to get any more laps in. On reflection, I'm sure I'll be able to dip below a 1m50 with a bit more practice. Goddards was a corner I never felt I'd quite mastered (it's a weird off camber job) and I was a huge 6mph below my best at the apex of Craners (you need big cahoonas turning left at 100mph!!). I was also still short shifting a little on Wheatcroft to keep the noise down, and I'd left all the tools, tyreweld, compressor, and spares in the boot. I'd also forgotten to remove the Westfield umbrella 😂 The new AR1's were very impressive with a nice progressive break away at the limit. The extra front grip of the 205's over the R888R 185's was noticeable on the exit from Coppice where the LSD tends to give a bit of push when unleashing the power in 3rd or 4th. It was also evident through Craners, where I had a more positive front end making it easier to pull the car left to straighten up for braking into the Old Hairpin but I do need to push harder there. The 235 rears worked well too, excellent grip but progressive break away at the limit. Once I was used to them, they felt almost as good as the Kumho V70 but didnt overheat after a few laps. A few photos of the day: Catching the MacG Racing Indy (Josh Tomlinson at the wheel)... Off to build a gap! Hunting down the Fiesta. Through the Foggy esses. Found an apex 😂 An absolutely brilliant few hours and the car was faultless despite the hot weather. A load of us will the doing the Open Track evening at Donington (National circuit this time) on the 1st September if anyone wants to join us!11 points

I visited Llandudno last Saturday with the family and realised it was two years since my last blat into Wales. I'd seen the NWKCOG had a lunch time meet planned for today, so I suggested to a few, how about a blat into Wales first. Some (well two), weren't so keen on my suggested leave home time of 6am, so I met @Tony H , @M8KWR Dave Fleet (Orange Mev) @Louie just outside Trentham Garden's. As I was travelling there @andyjs spotted I was out and joined us with his Caterham pilot friend Scott. On my way there I took this pic- Just arrived outside Trentham Gardens We then headed over to Audlem to meet @CosKev Tony Hallam (Tiger owner with a Saab Turbo engine). Kev had kindly put a great run together for us, but due to the later than wanted start time we weren't likely to get as far into Wales as I'd hoped for. Here's are route. Some great roads. A brief stop to water the plants. Found this interesting car at a fuel stop in Shrewsbury. Only 1 made it's a McEwen and Pete it's owner and driver was in it! He's a kiwi but lived in the UK since the 80's. The car is 600kgs and powered by a 2.5L EcoBoost currently running at 300bhp. Mainly used on track. @CosKev & Tony Hallam needed to head to their respective homes, so I led the six others to the Newcott Chippy. Lot's of fake snakes and a few 7's!11 points

I’ve been a Westfield fan for very many years having gone to the factory very many years ago with my brother in law to collect his pre litigation 7 kit. I’ve watched the car being built and over the years morphing into a track orientated vehicle. Over a few beers on the weekend the potential sale of the weapon was muted so I thought why not buy it and then decide what to do with it. Offer accepted and it looks like I’ll soon be a Westfield owner hoping that many on here will be able to assist in my plans for it.10 points

We've been busy on the bodywork this summer. We have already repainted the nose, bonnet and scuttle, so only the tub was left. Removed all the old paint, repaired holes and cracks and have now finished primer. The primer here is after about 4 rattle cans and it took 12 plus 2 high build in the end. Very happy with the results. Colour is going on, when we have the next dry weekend. And yes, the same colour as before, Ferrari Old English White.8 points

Hey Everyone, I have been a lurker here for a while as I have been looking at buying a Westfield for some time. But yesterday I finally took delivery of one from someone who is also a forum member. I is a 1600 CVH factory built car in blue. It is very nice but I am planning a few upgrades including engine conversion (most likely Zetec) and some cosmetic enhancements. I am not a stranger to Westfields as my late father owned a SE narrow with 1.7 X-flow many many years ago. I have also owned a TVR Griffith and numerous other interesting cars. I am sure that I will have a few questions to ask the knowlegeable members here as I begin my own Westfield journey. Best regards, Simon8 points
