  1. I snapped this photo a little while back to submit to the calendar contest and it's one that wasn't chosen. But I like it and it shows well what my little corner of Montana looks like. It's a sparsely populated part of the USA and "rush hour" generally means that cowboys are driving their herd from one side of the road to another. There's some awesome twisty back road driving here. dave

  4. Many of you will be aware of this book, published back in 2000: Due to it being out of print for many years and rare used copies being on sale for at least £35, I decided to try to track down the authors and see if I could permission to create a digital copy for the club's archives. After quite a bit of investigation work, I finally tracked down Jeremy Bouckley today and we had a lovely long chat on the phone. Now truth be told, I know about copyright laws and my begging bowl request was rather cheeky, so I wasn't surprised or upset when he very, very politely turned my request down. On the good news front though, he is working on an updated version of the book to bring it up to current, with plans to print and sell them. I've asked him to keep in touch with me with any developments on that front so I can pass it on to the rest of the club. Fingers crossed! Oh well, it was worth a try...

  5. Double figure temperatures and dry with not a grain of salt in sight, weren't we doing well. 6 Westfield's met at the car museum, which we just about had to ourselves. Along with Ethan we had another youngster, Dylan, with us today as Ian's guest in Bagpuss. After breakfast we went on our run through Matlock Bath along the Promenade, then Matlock Town, Bakewell, off into the wilderness and up onto the misty tops. Over Surprise View into Hathersage, Bradwell, Monsal Head to land us at Quacker's Cafe to finish. The roads were quiet and we enjoyed waving at the shoppers in the villages as we passed through. At Quacker's car park Dylan's grandparents were waiting for us to arrive, Chris and Mo fetched their Grandson, James to see us also. It's lovely to have the youngsters with us today We all went for lunch and the cakes from the on-site bakehouse We were treated by the staff to a cake platter as a thank you for the custom all year, that was nice of them, very nice. We didn't struggle to eat the extra pieces I can assure you. A fun day out, crazy but fun. Here are the rest of the photo's hope you enjoy them. The next meeting is Sat 28th Dec, 10am at the car museum, it's definitely on but if it's raining we will be in the MX5. After that we are meeting on New Years Day 10am, Carsington Water, have a great Christmas and see you on the other side x

  6. Visited ProDev Engineering, Carmarthen to see the ex-OMEX Richard Wragg to see the finishing touches to my engine build and bring it home for installation. I can wholeheartedly recommend Richard as an engine builder who can build to his spec or adapt to a one off. As a note he supplies both Burton Power and MST with their Zetec and Duratec engines! From a 68K ex mondeo 2.0 Zetec oily lump to a rebuilt forged 8000 rpm 230 bhp zinger... just waiting on BGH uprated gearbox and its all systems go for install!

  9. Watch out for the next edition of CKC! Jack Wood, owner of CKC was at Toybox today doing a magazine feature. Huge thanks to all the members who came along, hopefully you will get your faces and/or cars in the mag 👍 I'll do more of a write up in Westfield World, but Jack seemed to enjoy his test drive of one of Andrews cars (a stunning grey FW) and took loads of photographs of the cars and the new Toybox premises. A couple of photos I took of the car Jack tested, its a real stunner! I volunteered to take Jack for a spin in my MegaS2000 as he hadnt been in a Honda powered car..... Those that know me will appreciate that I had to give it the full berries! I think his face tells a story 😂 A fun couple of hours, thanks to Andrew, Dale, Roscoe and Natalie for your hospitality 👍

  12. Since the wife is out at a show, and I finally have an evening with nothing else pressing to do for once, an hours blatting round the little back roads soon cleared some cobwebs. I may even put this forward for the calendar, although I do wish I had been a minute ot two faster getting to this spot, as the sun would've been full.

  20. Hello Everyone For many of you, I probably don’t need much of an introduction—I’m that guy with the weird accent and a rather flamboyant driving style in the Speed Series! For those who don’t know me as well, I’m Maurici, an Automotive and Motorsport Engineer originally from Mallorca. I’ve been based in the UK since 2015, working with a major OEM. I had the privilege of being taken under the wing of Adam Read (AdamR on the forum), and over the years, I’ve worked closely with him on car builds, testing, setups, and countless laps on the track. I’m thrilled to announce that after a period of downtime, Clear Motorsport is back in action! I’ll be running it myself from a humble but professionally equipped garage in Leighton, Cheshire. My goal is to provide a service I truly believe the area has been missing—combining expertise, passion, and a personal touch. You can check out the official presentation post here: clearmotorsport.co.uk The website and post content are still under construction, but you’ll get a good idea of what’s on offer. The contact details are fully up-to-date, so feel free to reach out—I’d love to chat about cars and help you take your vehicle to the next level! Looking forward to hearing from you all. Cheers, Maurici clearmotorsport.co.uk

  22. In today’s world, people don’t often offer help or services for nothing. So here is a message to thank two business that have - Jack Webb Motorsport based in Brigg, Lincolnshire. They spent hours going over my car to resolve damper / spring / ground clearance issues. Cost me nothing and bought nothing from them either!! Intatrim from Telford - admittedly spent a few quid with them a few years back but I needed two replacement straps for my doors. Sent them a broken one and they are making me two new ones in carbon effect pvc to match the seats. Done for the cost of postage only. Good news needs to be shared!!

  25. There are some great photo's there, brilliant, thank you for posting them and your lovely comments. We met at the car museum for breakfast, table for 16. Hey what a great club we are in, Stu turned up with spare gearbox mounts in his pocket for us and advice on how easy a job it is to change them, what a great guy thank you. Parked at our very favourite car museum Dan arrived after the photo's and you can't leave his great car out, so here we go, the full line up of 10 cars Glynn had to wiz off to sunny Spain, leaving the 9 car convoy to trap on through the Peak District. You can really tell the tourists have gone, every road was empty apart from the odd tractor, well 2 actually. The clouds lifted enough so we could enjoy the views, although the sunshine was not coming out to play today. It was quite freezing so Glen decided we needed to go to the warm pub at Hulme End rather than the cafe, thankfully everyone followed me despite this change. Parked at The Manifold Inn Here we are preparing for the humongous Sunday lunches Here is one of the offending items, delicious, we are definitely coming back here. Service was excellent too. I had the 3 Andy's with me and they have a reputation of being hungry, especially for cake, I didn't want to disappoint so off we went to Wetton Tea Rooms, where they bake all their own cakes. Again you could tell the tourists have gone, the car park was empty. I love winter for our Westfield outings, the cars run well and the roads are empty, we operate unhindered. Parked at Wetton Summer Fruits Cake, there's jam and then there's jam, this is Wetton jammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Our Chairman chose well Andy Westwood had the Bakewell Cake, not once but twice, it was that good Unbelievably here is the seconds Tiramisu cake for the other Andy Leaving the other Andy lurking in the background also eating cake but avoiding my lens Fantastic day out, Sue, just remind Glen, is it Saga or Tui for the cruise? good laughs as well as good advice floating across the table. Thanks for coming everyone, see you next time, don't SORN or you will miss all the fun!

  26. After a rough start into ownership we got our first run out in the Westie up Hartside Pass. Having never driven anything like this and coming from high power hatches ( 500 BHP RS3, TTRS, 570 BHP Golf R ), I have got to say I'm hooked! This thing is simply mind blowing in every sense. It gets so much attention everywhere we go, loads of people taking photo's of it. We also bought the trailer and track wheels, so we will be hoping to get on track to learn how to drive it properly, because this thing re writes what's possible in the twisty's. A couple of photos captured by a photographer. I will hopefully bump in to some of you out and about, but I'm not sure there are many Westie owners in Carlisle.

  27. 15 cars met at Whitworth Terrace Cafe and it was great to see so many faces that we haven't seen for a while, and lovely to see our regulars too of course. We had a good chat on the terrace. Very difficult to photograph so many cars with stupid lamp posts in the way but here we are in the Whitworth car park We had a special visitor with us today (thanks Lee B), here is Natalia (and Froggy hiding behind her back) with her car, a wonderful young lady full of enthusiasm, she loves cars and going to car shows with her friend Bobby, thanks to her dad for filming us as we left x Allan bought his Westfield out that has been refurbished to exacting standards and now contains a 2.3 Duratec engine. It was an absolute stunner and he was deservedly proud to show it to us all, WOW. We set off on our run out, straight through Bakewell which had EMPTY roads! then off onto the quiet lanes and up high for great views, this took us to The Cow Shed. Those that had not followed my directions were already there waiting for us, hey ho, Wormhill will be there for another day. The roast beef and Yorkshire puddings were eaten al fresco We needed sweet treats next so we dropped down to the Yondermann The Rocky Road was popular @aeg missed out, just sayin' Belgian Chocolate, plus it contained Crunchie pieces, oh my Don't worry Glen, there are no fingerprints on that roll over bar, I am better trained than that Thank you to everyone for coming today, it's been just fabulous to see you all. The roads were quiet, the sun was warm and the cars ran well. For those that are not at Silverstone next weekend, it is a Bank Holiday and we will be out avoiding the tourist hot spots, see you then!

  28. I had a bimble down to West Bay with Lorna today to kill a few hours while Mrs Stu was busy. We happened across this nice display of classic cars along the promenade which I think I enjoyed alot more than Lorna 🤣. Compensation came in the shape of a fun half hour on the beach, watching the paragliders over the cliffs and the obligatory ice cream from Baboo 👍

  30. There was a distinct lack of real sevens at the car museum with only 4 Caterhams in the car park. Ian and I spoke to Nick who is the Derby/Notts/Leics AO of the Caterham Club and he is keen for us to meet up, so I passed him my business card and when they come to the museum next time we will try again. The WSCC put on a magnificent display of 13 cars and I thank you all for making that happen, very proud to be in this club and out with you all. Breakfast at the museum Parked at the museum only just fitted on the panorama shot A 13 car convoy, plus a Jaaaag journeyed through the Peak District, unbelievably we all arrived at the Bentley Brook pub together, perhaps I will put the route up beforehand more often. We comfortably fitted in the top car park someone had to put colour coding first and parked at the other side 😄 There was a carvery and a full menu to choose from, we all sat in the beer garden Next up the people that were heading back North drove the lovely Bentley Brook Road, which forms part of a quiet route right between the busy tourist areas, to land at the Peak Village in Rowsley, where we knew the car museum were exhibiting. We had a chat with them before persuing ice cream and cake. Here they are offering gift vouchers for the 'Drive Dad's Car' experience. Here we are having our treats Andy Westwood missed out on his favourite dessert Big Andy was a bit quick tucking into the lemon meringue, well he is called Andy! they have a reputation these Andy's Parked at the Peak Village Thank you for coming today everyone and showing the museum that we have a great, active club. I hope you have enjoyed the lovely Peak District roads and scenery as much as we have. Here are some last photo's of you at the Bentley Brook Inn.

  31. Hi all I wanted to introduce an old familiar face some of you knew. As some will know I made the decision to sell my Yellow zetec in the hope of something quicker and more fitting to my ideal Westfield. This all started on the long way north starting line, Julie and Glenn approached me with a car they knew for sale, Over the weekend they spoke more about it and the idea grew. The following week my old car was collected by its new owner, and I rang Julies contact, Barry Wilson. Now the car in question was built by the late Steve Pitt (Bugman), a 2018 Sport 250. Barry had bought it following Steve’s sad passing, and then sat on it for the past few years. I read Steve’s amazing build diary and soon realised what an intricate person he was, everything was done to perfection. Admittedly there were a few electrical choices that weren't great but Barry has been slowly going through the car removing them. After a few visits to see the car and work out what needed doing to bring it back to its former glory, a deal was made and huge thanks to Barry who got it running for me. I had it collected and delivered this week and started straight away preparing it for its first MOT in years. The headlights weren’t working neither were the indicators, this was down to some wiring add ons Steve did years back. I checked the manual and sorted both issues, bolt checked and then booked an MOT. Drove to MOT station and had a few misfires on the way, also lost boost (turns out the pipe wasn’t tight enough) MOT passed with no issues so I headed for home… that’s where the misfire started again, this time however it got worse to where it sounds like an old Impreza. Managed to limp home, and started testing and checking plugs/coils. 1 plug seemed to be an issue so I ordered a set and collected today, popped them in along with some injector cleaner and hit the key Hey presto she’s alive and sounding great. A few jobs later, mainly checking brakes and suspension, a little clean and it was time for its first drive! Sooo nervous but very excited too. It went perfectly, there is little too much pre load on the rear suspension as it seems to bang the spring down over bumps but I’ll see if I can wind it back a bit. but overall really pleased, it has the power and looks I’ve wanted and has the potential for my own touches along the way. So I’d like to say a huge thanks to Julie and Glen for putting me in touch with Barry. And thanks to the rabble of mates who have helped over the last few days via messages. Ben/Rob/Gavin and Tim. i look forward to lots of adventures with it!

Love the car, it does have a few very small niggles which I’m looking forward to addressing once I’ve finished re-concreting my garage. Will post some pics soon, in the meantime this is a bad photo of me stopping for fuel!

  38. Well it's come around to three years since I built my Westfield, time flies. So as well as a birthday clean and rub down this afternoon it was MOT time this morning and I was delighted to get my first pass certificate. I need to give high praise to Ed and the team at Franks Garage in Kingswood, Gloucestershire, very knowledgeable on Westfields, Caterhams and the like and knew their way around the car no problem. Turned out the car did have a problem which they spotted and fixed before a fuss-free MOT and I was on my way. Had a few good recommendations of where to go but really glad to have found these guys. It might just be me, but having built the car myself I have been slightly dreading the first MOT milestone, felt like handing my homework in at school many, many years ago 😅

  39. The car museum was super busy, it was a 'meet' plus they were celebrating the Mini being 65 years old today and I think a 'good weather Bank Holiday day might have helped too. Ollie on the gate looked after us and directed us to a natty little parking spot, out of the way but still on show, I like it and we will park there again. here we are. After a bit of tyre kicking we mgrated to the cafe for a quick brew before our run out. Just as we were about to leave @ben1975 and @Exige man Ben and Allan arrived, they had come to the museum event and were not coming on the run, so we swapped parking places. Our run out avoided Matlock Bath and Bakewell, it was busy out there and there was even traffic on our usually empty little lanes. I did my first emergency stop for a while, I knew that ruddy woman was going to pull out on me, I knew it. I was glad Big Andy is a good driver and also managed to stop, thank you buddy. We managed to make good time and landed at Wormhill for cake, 'What before lunch?' I hear you ask. Yes it was how the route planned out and you wouldn't want to miss this would you? Just in case you missed the actual size of this home baked lovliness from the local village ladies, have a closer look. Real stuff, that's where it was stuck to the tin, that flaky bit. With a distinct lack of Andy's @AndrewBClarke @aeg @Andy Westwood, who usually get the largest slices of cake, we bought our own Andy, @Big Andy who obliged. Next was a pop over the hill for those far reaching views, a tickle through Litton, up the twisties and we arrived at The Cow Shed for lunch, we were hungry after eating all that cake. Cow Pie Chris had one of those Bagpuss style number plates James MX5 supercharged engined Westfield which I really enjoyed travelling behind me That's All Folks, I think James and Jake carried on up to Ladybower but the rest of us scooted off home to beat the traffic before it all decided to leave the Peak District in one go at tea time. We had a good run back with Big Andy and a ruddy good day out, thanks for coming everyone, especially to Terence and his wife who promised at Malvern to pay us a visit.

  40. This is just a dump of various images I took on Sunday. Please feel free to add any you took if you were there too. They are just a tiny sample of the hundreds of beautiful cars on show. Favourites for me were the £30 million 250 GTO owned by Nick Mason, the F40LM, the beautiful McLaren F1 and MP-4/5B F1 car. I also loved the Lanzante McLarens, colour scheme is spectacular! Surprisingly, I was also quite impressed by the McMurtry Spéirling. It just seemed to be very well thought out and engineered, nice and small and achieved alot more with 1000bhp than other ICE and Electric cars achieved with 1500 or 2000bhp. I confess I wasn’t taken by the Red Bull RB17 Hypercar. Whilst no doubt amazingly engineered and unbelievably fast, it just looks huge and quite fussy. Compared to the stunning McLaren F1…. Well to me there is no comparison. The last two shots are quite special to me. The first one was, I think, in 2007 when my son was five, and then this year. He wanted to make sure his car was in shot to show he was now driving himself to Goodwood 😊 Finally, a couple of vids from the day (or should I say firstly as they appeared before the images 🤪)

  41. 9 cars met at the car musem and parked in the overflow car park to keep the scooters happy. I was parked in formation but someone Mr Bagpuss decided my handbrake needed tickling, revenge was had later!😮😁twice Breakfast at the museum, where we are made so very welcome, they love us coming and we love to come @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO trying to earn brownie points, with 3D printed parts, so my revenge is not too harsh With the scooters gone the next batch of cars arrive, DeLorean's and Supercars Parked in our favourite spot, an Alpha Romea Giulietta Spider (I googled that, I can't spell it😃) We went on our run out, got a few spots of drizzle as we glanced Buxton and arrived at Cupola cafe warm and dry. We had made good progress, had good views and enjoyed the country roads off the tourist route. Cupola's owner came out to greet us and counted us before scurrying inside to sort a table out for 13 people, we were treat like royalty. Parked at Cupola Inside Cupola The food is excellent quality there and is cooked right in front of you Meatballs are pure beef and not silly sausage meat Jake guarding my car just in case there is any mischeif with my handbrake Parked at Cupola Someone has to park separately, just like last week🫠. Watch out for steering wheel thieves, my revenge was taken not once but twice, it's like taking candy from kids After a fantastic lunch, the desire for sugar kicked in, so 4 left turns later and we arrived at Quackers Cafe When in Bakewell, eat Bakewell slices, made in the bakery on the premises, do I have to tell you how nice it is😋 That was the end of the day for some. For us, Glynn had selflessly offered to let me try his seat out in my car before we decided what style to buy, so we followed Glynn home. I now have Glynn's passenger seat as my driver's seat. How kind is that of Glynn? Here is the result view from the rear shows how much higher the new seat is when we got home we made sure the half hood still fitted, and it does baby quackers left in my car, I suspect a cat has been playing again Which just about sums up the day, a jolly good laugh, lots of fun with some serious driving too, food not bad either, THANK YOU everyone for making it happen xxxxxxxxxxx

  44. Thanks to Sean for delivering the Devon and Somerset Area flag to me recently, good to finally have it available for events. It only had a spike with it and a rather large base which you fill with water, so I thought I would make something more compact from bits and bobs I had around the garage, but mainly some aluminium tube from a broken camping chair, some threaded rod and a couple of blocks of wood. (EDIT aswell as the bit from the spike that the flag mounts on). After a couple of false starts, this one works well, just needs a sand down and a coat or two of paint.

  45. @Benrobson2999 - Kent AO I know I harp on about this a lotwhenever I see a pic posted on the forum, but your passenger's harness is woefully mal-adjusted. In an accident, she would 'submarine' under the belt and down into the foot well, and the cross-strap/buckle would wreck havoc with her chesticles/armpits/throat/neck. Most lay-passengers aren't clued on the intricacies of harness adjustment, so it's up to the captain to ensure the passenger is safe and instructed. You probably already do the following yourself self- consciously, but loosen off the shoulder straps fully and get the passenger (and help if necessary) to tighten down the hip straps first. For the first seating of the day's run, it maybe easier to sort the passenger before you climb into your side. Folks, notice I said hip straps, and not waist or stomach straps. Only then, once the hip strap is snug and tight, are the shoulder straps adjusted snug against the chest but not too tight that they are trying to hoick the hip strap up. If you have multiple passengers, they are all different shapes and sizes and the procedure needs to be followed for each. I'm an ex-Airforce flight safety tech dealing with ejection seat and parachute harnesses, so this stuff has been drilled into me - and I wish everyone in any kind of harness the best chances of survival when s*** happens.👍
