  7. We all met at Quacker's cafe and because the sun was out it was warm enough to sit outside. Parked at Quacker's We went on a drive through the Peak District on remarkably quiet roads, up high, with great views in the cool, clear air. The sunshine accentuating the scenery, it was glorious and I must thank all you great drivers for keeping the convoy together all the while. Parked at the Traveller's Rest, Bradwell Lunch inside at The Traveller's Rest, it was freezing by now as the clouds rolled in Jake, missing from the previous pic More food required so we went down to The Pavillion, Baslow Parked at The Pavillion Cake arrived Inside The Pavillion, far too cold to sit outside Another fantastic day out in our great little cars and another quiet Bank Holiday in the Peak District, can't believe our luck. Thank you to everyone for joining us today and see you all soon x

  10. Good meet at Haynes Breakfast Club this morning. We met at Podimore before driving in for 8am. A total of twelve WSCC cars there from Dorset, Devon, Somerset and the chaps down from Surrey area too. Plenty of exotica in the paddock and main car park areas. Was quite warm when the sun shone, and the bacon rolls were good! Big shout out to @markat for making the 1 hr 40 min trek from Okehampton in somewhat chilly conditions, especially with aeroscreen!

  16. My 1st attempt at polishing stainless steel. The manifold was all the dark tarnished colour before and the silencer pipe and end cap weren't quite so bad. Started with 120 grit and moved through to 2500 grit before polishing. About 7 hours in total to complete.

  17. But apart from being an MOT tester, MOT tester trainer, MOT manager, MOT manager trainer, and 50 years of MOT experience, and a great club member and Area Organiser, what has Martyn ever done for us? 🤣

  21. Hi! I'm sorry I completely forgot to report back. In short: it was brilliant and I had a fab time. Disclaimer first: my car is an absolute weapon driven by an absolute tool. I have not done any track days before - the few laps around Castle Combe I did in an Impreza and an Elise some years ago don't really count. So I have nothing to compare my experience to. The track was smooth to me in some sections and fairly rough concrete and tarmac in others. There was a lot of loose stuff in some parts for half the day - until multiple passes cleared it. At least one car ended up with a stone chip/small crack in the windscreen. The layout had mostly quite tight turns and one fast sweeper which also switched to off-camber halfway through. This one provided a great learning opportunity for me and I committed more and more throughout the day. It's an airfield so some will miss the elevation changes (corkscrew :-)) and I am sure I'll crave it. However, having nothing to hit and less to deal with was perfect for a beginner. There were 20 people in total - sold out - and probably only ever about 10 on track at the same time. This allowed me to drive my own thing for most of the time. Plus easy passing and - ahem - ample opportunity to let faster traffic overtake. The staff were friendly, relaxed yet totally professional. The atmosphere among the punters the same. I loved it and I am hoping to return later this year. If you have any questions please just ask!

  23. I have an aero screen, my teeth were chattering for a while but serves me right for not wearing enough layers! Great to meet some new westy owners. I had to make the trip as Stu promised me a bacon roll. I'd drive anywhere for one of those 😋

  34. The Warrington sub division can’t make it tonight I’m afraid. Ones broken his ankle the others torn a hamstring. Between @Megabusa Paul and myself we could make a Frankenstein’s monster driver but we haven’t found a doctor willing to do the cut and shut yet. Enjoy, it’s great weather for a blat!

  35. Given the current wonderful weather, the 'Stoke Rabble' will be departing from the pub, circa 30 mins from arrival to drive to the Cat and Fiddle. It would be great if some of the low mileage Cheshire brigade wish to venture out with us too. The route could look like this-

  37. It would be nice to meet up before and head in as a group but appreciate timings might be tricky as some have some distance to travel and we are staying local. Having never been before I’ve no real idea about the size of the event or the implications of a paddock pass. I can only rely on other events I’ve been too. maybe we should just have a target time to get to the business park and then agree a time to leave for the event. If the planets align and the roads behave then great. Maybe us AO’s can swap numbers and try to stay in touch or enable tracking. I assume those with paddock passes can either decide to park with those without or continue to the paddock.

  38. Has to be one of the worst designs ever. Good news it was still in one piece and no debris in the oil, but changing that belt must have been a massive job - well done.

  40. I was at Piper Cams and Exhausts today collecting something non-Westfield related but absolutely stunning!! These items jumped into my car and mugged my credit card on the way... Fast road cams, vernier pulleys and followers for a Silvertop Zetec... should let a few more ponies out... Just have to work out how you fit and time them in now...

  41. Much of my workshop testing is done on the basis that it's not stupid if it works .. so may i present zetec induction length testing version 1.0 I will collate the results and put them in my westy repair and development thread. In the meantime have a giggle.

  43. @Kingster At the bottom of the forum, no. After the first post in individual forums, it's bigger than other ads and a bit dominating. All the ads really should be the same size in my own humble opinion as everything I say is in the best possible taste.

  44. It’s too large, which can happen when logos are uploaded. I need to whip out Mr Photoshop and resize the logo, then upload it again. Leave it with me, I’ll handle it when I’m next on my desktop.

  45. For sure. But difference is that Yanosik beside fixed list of radars etc has main principle working - every user (app or device) when see Police with radar on side of the road / accidend/ traffic / police in civil looking car with radar etc can just push appropriate button and in the same time all other users in that area when approaching to this point on road got warning message/icon/ voice warning with distance to this point in metres. And as there is a looot of users it is updating live. We can also cancel non existed warnings. Algorithm cuts out non existed already "moving speed traps" and veryfing freshly added ones . BTW Yanosik ( Janosik ) is our outlaw historic cheef of robbers like Robin Hood

  46. Yeah it seems pretty useful as I took photos and entered that into chatGpt and it recognises the parts and comes up with a date pretty cool! I will definitely be taking that with me to the next MOT station!
