So finally had a chance to get into the garage to sort the worn bushings out and try the tool i made. I made a couple of modifications including adding clearance where it butts up against the wishbone as some have larger welds than others, and also to make a custom nut with a very long thread to try to avoid stripping threads. This also makes it easier to use as a socket no longer needs to fit in. I can confirm that it worked - I knew two of the bushings were worn, but ended up replacing five as I found some of the others were worn. This was all I had to hand and I haven't even started on the rear suspension yet. Photos are the tool with modifications, the tool in use for removal, and the end result with the removed bushing on the tool. Installation was easier than removal. I changed the front upper bushings on the car without removing the wishbones so it ended up being relatively easy. I don't know why this worked when others have needed so much force for removal, but there was no significant rust at all so maybe that made it easier?9 points

Meeting at Cupola, some of us arrived more toasty than others didn't they Mr Westwood? A table for 10, we had a few wonderful surprises today, with @Robin Parker (Red Spider) - Yorkshire AO and @aeg and Becky, even Bagpuss making a last minute journey in his little Santa hat, sat there on the bonnet. In the car park at Cupola. After a hearty breakfast we had a good journey around the Peak District, not too busy and roads in a somewhat dry condition, good for December anyway. We soon arrived at the Cock and Pullet (stop laughing) at Sheldon, which is near Bakewell We were eating a little bit lighter today as we were stuffed full of Christmas cake, this sentence does not apply to the Westwood's who might have had a full on Sunday lunch Thanks Becky for the photo's on the move and thank you to everyone for making the day wonderful, see you all in 2026, kiss kiss.7 points

A great day out as usual and thanks to @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative keeping us on nice lightly trafficked roads. Good to meet @DannyTGS today. How were my new DLR's in your mirrors today? I've often thought about taking this pic as I pass it in and out of the peaks. Today I remembered and made it happen. As I was taking a Selfie. @Darren Harvey (not in his Westie) stopped to ask If I was Bagpuss! Stay tuned to find out how I replied! Have a great New Year All!6 points

Hello... Yes plug an AP into each switch, set the SSID and password to match what you currently have and it should be all done... Choice of AP is entirely personal, and my personal choice is to avoid Ubiquity, which I am sure has come up. And of course budget is often a deciding factor. I find TP link to be acceptable most of the time, and I try to avoid home systems that have a "controller" like Netgears Orbi. I have no experience of TP Link Deco unfortunately. With regards to speed, wifi 6/6e and 7 speeds are theroetical. Most switches have 1Gb ports so that's the maximum speed possible. Most phones have just a single antenna so can NEVER get the full speed from wifi 6/6e and 7 because the speeds are predicated on both AP AND host device having multiple antennas so the data-streams can be multiplexed. I could talk about this for a long time. Most phones will see about 500Mb/s depending on all sorts of boring things that the adverts never mention... Oh yeah, forgot to add... 99% of wifi problems I see are not network related, they are user device and user-not-understanding-how-wifi-really-works related...3 points

I could be simple about this… but where’s the fun in that? I’ll bore you instead. I checked backstage yesterday, and there were four different addresses on your account. Only you can explain why, but I’m guessing that you’ve moved once or twice in the past. There are two different possible addresses on each account, a billing address and a delivery address. That’s because sometimes someone will buy a membership for another person at a different address. That’s where I think it went wrong backstage. You correctly updated your address in your profile, but the system retained your old addresses for billing purposes. Why? Eff knows. I also tried to remove the other three addresses yesterday and the system refused to let me, so I did the wise thing and walked away to get a glass of red wine. Today, they’re gone. No idea why, but they’re gone. So glitch gone as far as you’re concerned, which I will take as a win. Off for a glass of breakfast…3 points

Was a great day, the batteries in my gloves died literally 1/4mile from home so couldn't have timed it better, I have a link cable to run from the car battery so will have to figure that out next time, Socks worked a treat too ♨️ The DRL's looked smart, I've LED headlamps to fit too but i need the buckets for them but mine are budget non DRL's haha2 points

It seems bonkers that you can buy an epic Westy like this and have enough money left over to also buy a lovely baby Aston to keep it company, for less than the price of even the cheapest new Westy! This is amazing value for money. Good luck with the sale2 points

A change to previously stated meeting date, totally my fault as I got us double booked, so we are meeting on SUNDAY 28th Dec at Cupola, Hope Valley, S32 4TF, 10am. If you can let me know if you are coming and how many then I will book a table, it can get busy at holiday time even though this is a quieter one of the cafes. We will have a drive out on carefully selected roads to miss the madness and will finish at an equally well chosen venue to finish off. All welcome at Cupola but members only on the run out please, keep it fair to those who pay. Who is coming?1 point

The webmaster would be the one to answer part two of the question; I don't know if it's been updated since, but it was a very, very, very old plug in, written for a much earlier version of the forum software, that neither plays nicely with the later generations of software, nor was particularly easy to update, without essentially writing a new plug in. As such, it's now become that elderly, somewhat crotchety relative that likes to sit in the corner and randomly respond to things on it's own, glacial time scale.1 point

Two explanations, one highly probable, one barely possible but unlikely: 1) The system does not update that information instantly. It’s a sub-routine that updates the information periodically. Now that the other addresses are gone, it will eventually sort itself out. When? Sometime between now and The Rapture, I’m guessing. Sorry I can’t be more specific. Or… 2) Your fellow members living close to you are trying to send you a subtle message.1 point

Well done excellent tool your decision to make that extra long threaded nut is definitely the key to success with this ive heard others using similar tools that rely just on a standard nut have failed with stripped threads1 point

Well, the challenge is now officially over. If I'm being honest, I'm disappointed that it didn't strike a chord with more members and take off the way I wanted it to, but that's the breaks sometimes. Anyway, I'm a man of my word, so congratulations to individual winner @Paul Baker and to local area winners @Stuart Davis AO - Devon Cornwall & Somerset and his members. A small, cheap but personalised engraved trophy is on its way to you - enjoy!1 point
