  1. Finally got to pick the car up today and got it home on one of the only dry days we are going to have for a good few days lol Thanks to Toybox Cars Its a 2.0 Ford Pinto with dual 45 webers, hopefully in the new year I shall start playing around with the engine a bit more, maybe a nice new head and cam from Burton power and then see what kind of power I can get from it. But for now will enjoy it as is well when we get some decent weather haha

  2. A nice but chilly drive to and from the Ace Cafe 'Cold Turkey' meet this morning. Plenty of bikers, some classic cars and some good chats. The XI started up well without a choke and ran faultlessly.

  4. It's been a good white since I've shared any photos of my car...so it's time I guess! This photo was taken by my wife and while I was autocrossing in a local church parking lot. I like how the big, wide and sticky tires distort under the heavy cornering loads. It's winter here now and snow covers the roads and the Westie is tucked away warm and safe in the shop waiting for the sun to melt the ice. dave

  5. Saturday dinner time, sat doing nothing in particular, some friends say they're going skiing, anyone want to join them. An hour later I'm at their house booking it. Monday morning I'm on my way to Andorra for 3 days skiing. 13 years since the last time and 39 from my first time on snow. I've had a great time and can't wait to do it all again next year. This is what retirement is all about.

  7. So finally had a chance to get into the garage to sort the worn bushings out and try the tool i made. I made a couple of modifications including adding clearance where it butts up against the wishbone as some have larger welds than others, and also to make a custom nut with a very long thread to try to avoid stripping threads. This also makes it easier to use as a socket no longer needs to fit in. I can confirm that it worked - I knew two of the bushings were worn, but ended up replacing five as I found some of the others were worn. This was all I had to hand and I haven't even started on the rear suspension yet. Photos are the tool with modifications, the tool in use for removal, and the end result with the removed bushing on the tool. Installation was easier than removal. I changed the front upper bushings on the car without removing the wishbones so it ended up being relatively easy. I don't know why this worked when others have needed so much force for removal, but there was no significant rust at all so maybe that made it easier?

  8. Thanks to the generous support of the members. I am currently boxing each mug or mugs ready for safe transportation. Hoping to have completed this by the end of the week having sold them much faster than anticipated. Monday Tuesday deliveries I would expect. ATB Hedley.

  10. Meeting at Cupola, some of us arrived more toasty than others didn't they Mr Westwood? A table for 10, we had a few wonderful surprises today, with @Robin Parker (Red Spider) - Yorkshire AO and @aeg and Becky, even Bagpuss making a last minute journey in his little Santa hat, sat there on the bonnet. In the car park at Cupola. After a hearty breakfast we had a good journey around the Peak District, not too busy and roads in a somewhat dry condition, good for December anyway. We soon arrived at the Cock and Pullet (stop laughing) at Sheldon, which is near Bakewell We were eating a little bit lighter today as we were stuffed full of Christmas cake, this sentence does not apply to the Westwood's who might have had a full on Sunday lunch Thanks Becky for the photo's on the move and thank you to everyone for making the day wonderful, see you all in 2026, kiss kiss.

  13. After 12 years of ownership I have decided to sell my 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX 2.0 U.K. car. Owned by me since November 2013 and before that by another WSCC member. Approx 96500 miles, used initially as a second car and then more recently as third to my BRZ. Large file of receipts, never welded since I’ve had it and not before as far as I’m aware. In recent years most of the mileage has been done driving between car shows. I have not modified the car in any way as I prefer to keep them as standard, although the previous owner did tell me when I bought it that this has a Prodrive back box fitted. Being a 2004 car this also falls into the cheaper road tax bracket. I have always kept on top of any maintenance and major jobs completed over the 12 years I’ve owned it. The Clutch was replaced shortly after I bought the car and the timing belt last year at the same time as the last service and MoT which was at 96552 miles, the transfer box has been rebuilt with new seals and bearings at 82000 miles and a new alternator and battery was fitted at 95014 miles, 6 months MOT till July 2026. The Airbag recall has been done by Subaru in 2016. Large file of receipts for servicing and MoT’s going back to 2007. Like all Impreza’s do at some time in their life this does have a parasitic battery drain from the tracker. Despite my best efforts I’ve not managed to find where it is so I can disconnect it, but I keep the car plugged into a charger when not being driven. The car is fitted with a tow-bar but I still have the brackets which fit behind the rear bumper should you wanted to remove the tow bar and refit these. I will be sorry to see the car go but as I am now working from home it’s difficult to justify owning this and two other cars and in the last year I only covered 100 miles. £6750 or very near offers. I am located in Fordham to the North West of Colchester and viewings are possible most days. Caveat emptor: I am a private seller and not an expert, therefore photos and descriptions are my opinion and provided solely for guidance purposes. it is recommended that prospective buyers carry out a full inspection prior to purchase for your own peace of mind and verification of accuracy. 14. A great day out as usual and thanks to @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative keeping us on nice lightly trafficked roads. Good to meet @DannyTGS today. How were my new DLR's in your mirrors today? I've often thought about taking this pic as I pass it in and out of the peaks. Today I remembered and made it happen. As I was taking a Selfie. @Darren Harvey (not in his Westie) stopped to ask If I was Bagpuss! Stay tuned to find out how I replied! Have a great New Year All!

  17. Just before Christmas I fitted my new header tank: I had to cut the old connecting hose off and fit a new one: I had to order a new hose clamp which arrived the next day. Then my mother came down with some sort of norovirus thing and my wife came down with flu. Just as they were getting themselves sorted out I came down with some sort of lurgi as well. But, today, I finally got the hose clamp fitted: It only took three weeks 🫣 David

  21. New 9 inch puller fan plus brackets and controller from Revotec to go onto the XI's radiator. Should work more efficiently than the awful bracket that the kit comes with that blocks 30% of the surface area. Brackets not fully fitted at this point - just positioned it all on the rad for photo attention.

We will have a display area reserved for our Westfields, there is a nice cafe for breakfast and canal boat rides are available if you fancy something a bit more leisurely. Please let me know if you can attend so we can ensure we have enough spaces reserved. Anderton Boat Lift, Lift Lane, Anderton, Northwich, Cheshire, CW9 6FW.

  31. Our regular meet day falls on New Years Day this year, so we've postponed it a week, to the 8th Jan. As usual, the Golden Pheasant, around 7pm if eating, else 7.30pm PLEASE NOTE: Tonight's meet is cancelled due to the impending weather issues and difficulties getting to and from a more rural pub like the Pheasant.

  33. As any properly trained husband knows, the 40th anniversary is ruby, hence the new colour for this year is ruby red. Red is also the best colour for a Westfield, contrary to what some might say… 😛

  36. Received refurbished shocks for my track Westfield from https://www.thunderlane.eu . I bought the car in 2018, with a few years of history before that, and I think the shocks had never been overhauled. They got new bearings, thinner valves for a lightweight car, new bump stops, etc. They were dyno tested (I don’t understand those diagrams at all 😕, but I was assured they were matched in pairs). I’m really curious whether I’ll feel the difference. When they were “new” ( I mean after few seasons in Westfield Cup NL , and on some endurance challenges (got few broken wishbones with that car ) , even on the softest settings the car was quite darty. Hopefully this effort and the expense — will be noticeable 🙂 Edit – oh, and I had my springs measured: front (RED) 60 N/mm, rear (BLACK) 40 N/mm. Not sure if this is right or wrong, but at least I now have a baseline if I learn which way to go softer or stiffer at the front or rear in the future.

  37. @DannyTGS well done for fixing your brake lights after @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO commented on them on Sunday 🤣 he will be pleased to know I’ve put new bulbs in Becky’s car as well 😜 so that just leaves @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative !!!! Has Glen fixed them yet ? I should hope so …. his got more time on his hands than the rest of us 🤔

Was a great day, the batteries in my gloves died literally 1/4mile from home so couldn't have timed it better, I have a link cable to run from the car battery so will have to figure that out next time, Socks worked a treat too ♨️ The DRL's looked smart, I've LED headlamps to fit too but i need the buckets for them but mine are budget non DRL's haha

  40. Hello... Yes plug an AP into each switch, set the SSID and password to match what you currently have and it should be all done... Choice of AP is entirely personal, and my personal choice is to avoid Ubiquity, which I am sure has come up. And of course budget is often a deciding factor. I find TP link to be acceptable most of the time, and I try to avoid home systems that have a "controller" like Netgears Orbi. I have no experience of TP Link Deco unfortunately. With regards to speed, wifi 6/6e and 7 speeds are theroetical. Most switches have 1Gb ports so that's the maximum speed possible. Most phones have just a single antenna so can NEVER get the full speed from wifi 6/6e and 7 because the speeds are predicated on both AP AND host device having multiple antennas so the data-streams can be multiplexed. I could talk about this for a long time. Most phones will see about 500Mb/s depending on all sorts of boring things that the adverts never mention... Oh yeah, forgot to add... 99% of wifi problems I see are not network related, they are user device and user-not-understanding-how-wifi-really-works related...

  42. I could be simple about this… but where’s the fun in that? I’ll bore you instead. I checked backstage yesterday, and there were four different addresses on your account. Only you can explain why, but I’m guessing that you’ve moved once or twice in the past. There are two different possible addresses on each account, a billing address and a delivery address. That’s because sometimes someone will buy a membership for another person at a different address. That’s where I think it went wrong backstage. You correctly updated your address in your profile, but the system retained your old addresses for billing purposes. Why? Eff knows. I also tried to remove the other three addresses yesterday and the system refused to let me, so I did the wise thing and walked away to get a glass of red wine. Today, they’re gone. No idea why, but they’re gone. So glitch gone as far as you’re concerned, which I will take as a win. Off for a glass of breakfast…
