  1. Maybe some of you have heard the latest news – Le Mans 2025 was won by Polish driver Robert Kubica! His main sponsor is ORLEN. While I was testing my recently finished (and finally working!) MNR, it seems some folks from ORLEN were watching my driving — and they sent me a whole cistern of their fuel. Nice!

  2. New to the Westfield club! Just picked this up from Toybox last week. First drive was collecting her from Burton and driving back to North London on the A roads in the glorious sunshine! And a lot of driving this 1st weekend including a meet up with a friend and his GBS Loving every second so far!

  3. I snapped this photo a little while back to submit to the calendar contest and it's one that wasn't chosen. But I like it and it shows well what my little corner of Montana looks like. It's a sparsely populated part of the USA and "rush hour" generally means that cowboys are driving their herd from one side of the road to another. There's some awesome twisty back road driving here. dave

  5. A great big thank you to Marcus Barlow, our Events manager for giving us this tour, here it is from our seat. Thank you for the hats in the best colour! We travelled up the M6 with @AndrewBClarke, @neptune and @Stuart, making our way to the Lakeland Motor Museum for lunch by the river whilst watching the steam train, fantastic start. Lakeland Motor Museum It's cafe by the river, overlooking the cars and steam trains Next we drove along the shores of Lake Windermere to ride on the ferry and experience the Lakes close up After the torrential downpour we were glad to park our cars in the heated underground car park at Travelodge Kendal, what a luxury. I am hoping others will post their experience on here and will include a photo of approx 20 Westfield's tucked up for the night. We went into Kendal town to eat with the 3 Andy's and others The puddings flowed and the frivolities started Next morning we all gathered for the Tour Talk from Marcus Then it was time to set off, excited!! Thanks @Glynn Walters for the photo At The New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, Langdale It is in a lovely situation Next stop for us was the Honister Slate Mine cafe, here is the Honister Pass And here is us parked up Glenridding, a little mountain village next Time for ice creams Then we went a walk, follow me, puff it's uphill all the way to the top! To Lanty's Tarn For views over Ullswater Glenridding The second day was the Dales tour, over Buttertubs Pass and to the beautiful Simonstone Hall with it's amazing views, stopping for drinks The walk at Malham was cancelled due to rain so we went to Ribblehead Viaduct and sat it out in the Station Inn Our journey home with Andrew was to get down the M6 and pick up the Peak District, getting to the Cupola cafe before separating A fantastic trip, even if I didn't quite have a clue which National Park I was in each day, does it matter? they are all beautiful. Thanks to everyone for making it the awesome trip that it was, now let's have a little pray that Marcus treats us to the same next year XXXXXXXXXXXX

  9. Ready for summer after a few jobs over winter, new wide track kit, new engine and gearbox mounts, new timing and aux belts, oil and filter change, new windscreen, new tyres, various new fasteners and a new plate is the cherry on top👌 I have also just ordered a new soft bits half hood today, can’t wait for the better weather, hopefully……

  10. Many of you will be aware of this book, published back in 2000: Due to it being out of print for many years and rare used copies being on sale for at least £35, I decided to try to track down the authors and see if I could permission to create a digital copy for the club's archives. After quite a bit of investigation work, I finally tracked down Jeremy Bouckley today and we had a lovely long chat on the phone. Now truth be told, I know about copyright laws and my begging bowl request was rather cheeky, so I wasn't surprised or upset when he very, very politely turned my request down. On the good news front though, he is working on an updated version of the book to bring it up to current, with plans to print and sell them. I've asked him to keep in touch with me with any developments on that front so I can pass it on to the rest of the club. Fingers crossed! Oh well, it was worth a try...

  11. Double figure temperatures and dry with not a grain of salt in sight, weren't we doing well. 6 Westfield's met at the car museum, which we just about had to ourselves. Along with Ethan we had another youngster, Dylan, with us today as Ian's guest in Bagpuss. After breakfast we went on our run through Matlock Bath along the Promenade, then Matlock Town, Bakewell, off into the wilderness and up onto the misty tops. Over Surprise View into Hathersage, Bradwell, Monsal Head to land us at Quacker's Cafe to finish. The roads were quiet and we enjoyed waving at the shoppers in the villages as we passed through. At Quacker's car park Dylan's grandparents were waiting for us to arrive, Chris and Mo fetched their Grandson, James to see us also. It's lovely to have the youngsters with us today We all went for lunch and the cakes from the on-site bakehouse We were treated by the staff to a cake platter as a thank you for the custom all year, that was nice of them, very nice. We didn't struggle to eat the extra pieces I can assure you. A fun day out, crazy but fun. Here are the rest of the photo's hope you enjoy them. The next meeting is Sat 28th Dec, 10am at the car museum, it's definitely on but if it's raining we will be in the MX5. After that we are meeting on New Years Day 10am, Carsington Water, have a great Christmas and see you on the other side x

  13. I’ve been trying to find an opportunity to take my Mum out in the Westfield she helped me buy pretty much since I reacquired it, but somehow it never quite happened. Finally though, the stars aligned on Tuesday. I took the day off for another less pleasant reason in the morning, but that meant I could head up from Crewkerne to Wokingham in the afternoon to see Mum on her 90th birthday, in the Westfield of course. I had some great views of Stonehenge both ways, and it was lovely in the twilight heading home. After various friends had left, I persuaded her to tog up and come out for a spin. Getting her in was not too much of a challenge, and she was snug with the 6 point harness although could have done with a cushion as she could barely see over the dashboard! We headed out through Hurst and Twyford, hitting some sticky traffic at times, but then had a wonderful run back along the B3018 and the Straight Mile and home. She was very brave, didn’t squeal once and actually really enjoyed it. I’m not sure her hair will ever be the same though 🤣. The funniest part was, of course, getting her out again. It took a few goes and I have a hilarious speeded up video of it which I will keep private to save her blushes. So, there can’t be many 90 year olds who’ve been in a Westfield at a decent lick on their birthdays! She will be dining out on that one for a while 👍

  17. Watch out for the next edition of CKC! Jack Wood, owner of CKC was at Toybox today doing a magazine feature. Huge thanks to all the members who came along, hopefully you will get your faces and/or cars in the mag 👍 I'll do more of a write up in Westfield World, but Jack seemed to enjoy his test drive of one of Andrews cars (a stunning grey FW) and took loads of photographs of the cars and the new Toybox premises. A couple of photos I took of the car Jack tested, its a real stunner! I volunteered to take Jack for a spin in my MegaS2000 as he hadnt been in a Honda powered car..... Those that know me will appreciate that I had to give it the full berries! I think his face tells a story 😂 A fun couple of hours, thanks to Andrew, Dale, Roscoe and Natalie for your hospitality 👍

  18. There isn’t a section for returning users, so thought Startline was probably the best place to put this. For those of you who don’t know/remember me, I’m Mat and was a member here 3-4 years ago - used to have a green 1.8 Zetec before Covid job loss forced me to sell. For those of you I have met up with previously - hello again, can’t wait to see you all. My partner will confirm I’ve been a right miserable and grumpy sod since selling up, and so delighted to report that I’ve finally managed to rectify the situation. Introducing the Jaffa Cake. A 2.0 Duratec SEiW Deal agreed today and will be collected this coming week at some point. I’m based South Lincs, towards Peterborough. Looking forward to one of your run outs to some cake at some point @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative and @AndrewBClarke. Will be in touch with you too@Martin Bell - (Bellyboy) East Anglia AO as I think you’re my closest AO? Thanks Mat

  20. Cornwall, Devon & Somerset Area are just back from a pretty awesome trip over the weekend down to Land's End. We were fortunate to have superb weather throughout, which certainly contributed to towards making it such a successful event. Wanting to make a full day of the trip down there, I planned a meet at Ralegh's Cross on the edge of Exmoor. I met Matt at Ilminster Services for some fuel and then to head up together, Colin drove up the night before from Dawlish and Gareth and Linda drove across from Umberleigh, all meeting up at 8.30am to enjoy a hearty breakfast together. A super nice surprise was when new member Harry turned up in Marcus's old car, having only driven it for twenty minutes prior to Saturday! Quite a baptism of fire . Five cars then headed South, through Tiverton where we stopped for a quick top up of fuel for those that needed it, then stopping at Bickleigh Mill to meet Mark T in his lovely blade-engined orange 'weapon' so five became six. After a catchup and quick chat, we were on our way again, down to the outskirts of Exeter. The Devon County Show caused us some delay, but fortunately all the cars behaved in the hot weather and we were soon clear and on our way South West towards Moretonhampstead and Dartmoor. Some good roads on this route, which then became pretty narrow and windy as my route took us down to Widecombe in the Moor and a refreshment stop at The Rugglestone Inn, which has a beautiful beer garden. We were all still full from breakfast so just had drinks, nibbles and a chat. At this point I must make an apology to Pip Parsons, who was planning on meeting us in Princetown. I gave him an ETA, completely forgetting that we were stopping prior to meeting him so that by the time we got there he had other commitments; my apologies sir, I owe you a pint for next time. So, across Dartmoor and on to our bid for points in the Funny Place Name Challenge! Crapstone was our target, and we managed six cars, six owners (mostly in their cars apart from me taking the pic), so I have submitted a bold claim for 13 points! I do hope we will be suitably rewarded for our efforts by the esteemed judges. It was at this point that things went a little awry! Gareth indicated a need for a call of nature, and I said we would head into Crapstone to the Tea Room for a comfort break. I then proceeded straight out of town, leaving Gareth to attempt driving with his legs crossed! I soon made a bit of a navigational cock-up, leading us down some very dodgy, steep narrow roads ending in a down hill, very sharp hairpin bend named 'Death Corner' by Mark , followed by missing a turn over Denham Bridge resulting in a quick and embarassing three point turn for yours truly. Somewhere in this chaos, we lost Gareth and Linda, but super navigator Linda knew where we were heading so we continued on, crossing the Tamar via the small bridge and finally pulled up in the Asda services near Gunnislake to allow them to find us. United with six cars again briefly, we immediately said goodbye to Harry who had to head back to Salcombe at this point; great to meet you Harry and look forward to catching up again soon. Conscious of time, I thought it best we push on to Land's End without too much more phaffing around, so that's what we did. I lost my bottle regarding fuel at St Blazey, pulling into a Gulf station (Yay!) which only had E10 fuel (Boo!) which we reluctantly filled up with, Gareth almost choking at the thought. From there, it was a long slog down to Land's End, taking in St Austell, Truro, Helston and Penzance on the way. Alot of fairly slow or boring going, stuck behind slow traffic at times but we made it there by around 17.30, much better than I feared during planning stages! A short lunch break certainly helped. Expecting to be a little longer than the free 20 mins, we opted for a bargain £4.50 parking charge each to allow a bit more time for a comfort break, wander around and photo op at Land's End itself. We even chanced a line up infront of the main building which was great. We had had some thoughts about meeting up in St Ives for dinner, but with the time as it was, the B&B contingent (did I say older? ) headed off to their comfy beds, leaving the hardcore campers to head for the campsite alone. We opted for the coast road, rather than going via Penzance and boy am I glad we did. It was 20 miles, 45 minutes of heaven! Cracking roads, not much traffic and, er hmm, let's just say we had some fun! It was the best driving of the weekend for me. We (Matt, Mark and myself) stayed at the Trevalgan Farm Holidays site just West of St Ives, and it was a lovely, well kept and peaceful place (well it was until I started snoring that night, but that's for later!) We pitched tents, had a quick refresh and then Matt started negotiating with Taxi firms to get us into St Ives. A sterling job he did too, securing us one in around 10 minutes when it looked like over an hour at first due to the St Ives Food Festival which was on that weekend. We avoided the festival and just stuck around the harbour for a drink and very nice fish and chip supper before heading back to the tents. I must apologise to the guys for the aforementioned snoring. I blame the fact I have a cold and all the fresh air for making it worse than normal, but you can see from Mark's picture that his night was not a peaceful one! Up at 7am the following morning, we were greeted by a stunningly beautiful sunrise, very promising for the day ahead. We headed over to The Badger Inn, Lelant to meet the grown ups( ) and enjoyed a hearty breakfast, joined by Geoff Pym, a Cornish member I had managed to make contact with prior to the trip. He had agreed to lead us on a nice route for the first part of our return to avoid the A30 as much as possible. Despite some annoying traffic which slowed our progress, we had a fun run behind Geoff; I had fun chasing behind and hearing the lovely sounds from his 919cc Blade engine, but the group got a bit spread out, and we again lost tail end charlies Gareth & Linda who struggled at a junction with continuous traffic. We pulled into our agreed BP fuel stop, topped up, and soon after they again rejoined the group. Geoff left us at this point, and now fueled with some proper E5 we headed off up the A39 towards Bude, stopping at Widemouth Bay just before it. The views as we crested the hill overlooking the bay were spectacular, and we enjoyed them all the way down towards the sea. There was yet another 'Chuckle Brother's' moment when I missed the car park, led us a little way down the road to turn round, to be told the one I had been thinking of was actually further on, so I turned round again only to see poor Colin following me! We got sorted in the end and rolled into the dusty carpark in search of a well deserved ice cream and to enjoy a last chat together before heading off our separate ways. Colin, Gareth and Linda and Mark headed left, Matt and I right up to Blackmoor Gate and a nice pint of Thatchers Zero. The last leg was across Exmoor to Simonsbath, and back to our original meeting point at Ralegh's Cross, some good fun driving to be had here, although some of the time spent stuck behind very slow cars. Strangely I actually enjoyed following a camper van being driven with gusto at around 50mph, quite amusing to watch! From Ralegh's cross we were back to Taunton, then Illminster where I waved goodbye to Matt, and had a final blast home down the Chard road into Crewkerne which has some fun corners to it. For me, it was 404 miles in two days. The weather could not have been kinder, and really made it a memorable trip. It was great to meet old and new faces and to be able to drive with a good group who are excellent company. To them I say thank you for committing to the trip and to trusting my at times dodgy navigation, it was a blast, hopefully to be repeated in some guise or other in future. I will add pictures later this evening! EDIT A clarification has been requested by Mr and Mrs Homfray-Davies so their detachment from the group is not seen as them getting lost through any sort of incompetence on their part😊 In the first instance, after an acceptable and necessary emergency comfort break, they followed the correct route but sensibly chose not to follow us around Death Corner. Using their resourcefulness and calmness under pressure, they used Sat Nav to meet us in Gunnislake. The second instance is put down to obeying the Highway Code to allow a million grockles to pass, only to find that we had b*****red off by the time they got past the obstruction. Again, skilful navigating from Mrs Homfray-Davies allowed them to find us at our fuel stop. I trust that this clarification avoids any impact on their hitherto unblemished reputations 😉😊👍

It was dark when we left, so the first time driving in the dark, and around the A406 North Circular road to add to the excitement.

  24. Hi folks, I'm a newby member. Bought my 2000 kit build SE Narrow as a resto project from Bangers and Cash almost exactly 2 years ago. I'm an old fart, well into pensioner age and this was acquired as a 'memory lane' project having, in my late twenties, briefly owned an S2 Lotus 7 wearing 'The Prisoner' make-up. Upon collection from Pickering, closer inspection of the more or less stock 1600 Kent revealed that it had visibly blown a core plug and the decision was therefore made to carry out a 'zero hour' restoration on the whole car. The chassis was in pretty good nick for an exclusively track day'd car but everything else was tired. So, what have we done last year, this year, this week and today? Rear axle and brakes have been totally reworked with Quaife ATB LSD. Type 9 gearbox has been totally reworked. Front brakes are now Wilwood 4 pot. Rad has been flushed and restored. Engine build has been in the capable hands of Roger at Aldon Automotive in Brierley Hill, the work starting with a bare block chemical clean. Build has lightened flywheel, balanced and uprated bottom end and HD Helix clutch. Also has 244 cam, Duplex Vernier with access cover, Burton 2A big port/big valve head, HP oil pump, Samco hoses, Facet fuel pump, pressure regulator, new twin 45 DCOE's on Mangoletsi, uprated water pump with new alternator and Gates Tooth belt drive, Aldon electronic ignition and throwback lighting including headlight baskets and Lucas 1130 Torpedo sidelights. Car is in Westfield BRG with now of course, an LO7 yellow nosecone! Proper screen is waiting in my workshop together with wiper kit. Home made screen pillars (aka original Carbuilder/Lotus 7 style) yet to be formed from 5mm sheet ally. Stainless sheet ready to be English Wheeled to fit rear arches. Original Federal tyres had aged to consistency of concrete and (experimentally) replaced with Davanti Protoura road/track boots from Demon Tweeks. Bookend shots were at Bangers & Cash. Work in progress pics were taken at Aldon at beginning of year. Cost? Enough to initiate divorce procedings if my management finds out. Plans? Well here's a clue. I live 6 miles from Shelsley Walsh. Plus a mandatory photo shoot at Portmeirion! Best, NotMcGoohan

I may even put this forward for the calendar, although I do wish I had been a minute ot two faster getting to this spot, as the sun would've been full.

Pinto 2.1 from Vulcan Engineering and I’m running in gently and checking the car for every thing I can tighten! Loving it and wanting to maintain it as much as I can myself.

  36. Say hey, good lookin' - what ya got cookin'? Well it might be a Westfield and not a hot rod FORD but it sounds good. (Younger generation please google Hank Williams).Vicki @Steve Bosworth. We met at Quacker's cafe, it was freeeeezing and a bit cloudy but we were all glad to be out on a dry forecast. Car park. Jake, our photographer for the day, was taking some snazzy shots too. Inside Quacker's Cafe, nice and warm despite me suggesting we sit outside and Glen suggesting we didn't 😆 It's not the first time today we were all thanking Glen. Next we went on the run out, a route devised by Glen and what a cracker it was, thank you for the second time today, Glen 😍. A slight delay to the set off as Glynn had to change his shoes (not the stilleto's, that's this evening's club😮). Paul and Margaret were coming on the run and then disappearing early to get ready for a few months in Europe in the van, see you in June! We were booked in for lunch at The Bike and Boot, Hope Valley. A new build hotel for activity breaks and very welcoming to car clubs. Bike and Boot car park The menu is amazing, Glen had paella, not our usual kind of food Inside Bike and Boot We needed dessert after that so off we went to The Pavillion at Baslow and were greeted by the usual selection of sicklyness We sat outside and enjoyed our cakes in the warm sunshine We sit overlooking our beautiful cars. A man with a massive camera came over and asked if we raced them, we replied, 'No officer' 😁 The Pavillion Cafe overlooking the sports field and car park A brilliant day out, a good laugh, surprisingly quiet roads and establishments. Thanks for keeping the convoy together with all your excellent driving, it makes my life easier. Thank you to Glynn for guarding the rear of the convoy, also giving me peace of mind that everyone is looked after. See you all next time.

  42. After a rough start into ownership we got our first run out in the Westie up Hartside Pass. Having never driven anything like this and coming from high power hatches ( 500 BHP RS3, TTRS, 570 BHP Golf R ), I have got to say I'm hooked! This thing is simply mind blowing in every sense. It gets so much attention everywhere we go, loads of people taking photo's of it. We also bought the trailer and track wheels, so we will be hoping to get on track to learn how to drive it properly, because this thing re writes what's possible in the twisty's. A couple of photos captured by a photographer. I will hopefully bump in to some of you out and about, but I'm not sure there are many Westie owners in Carlisle.

  43. 15 cars met at Whitworth Terrace Cafe and it was great to see so many faces that we haven't seen for a while, and lovely to see our regulars too of course. We had a good chat on the terrace. Very difficult to photograph so many cars with stupid lamp posts in the way but here we are in the Whitworth car park We had a special visitor with us today (thanks Lee B), here is Natalia (and Froggy hiding behind her back) with her car, a wonderful young lady full of enthusiasm, she loves cars and going to car shows with her friend Bobby, thanks to her dad for filming us as we left x Allan bought his Westfield out that has been refurbished to exacting standards and now contains a 2.3 Duratec engine. It was an absolute stunner and he was deservedly proud to show it to us all, WOW. We set off on our run out, straight through Bakewell which had EMPTY roads! then off onto the quiet lanes and up high for great views, this took us to The Cow Shed. Those that had not followed my directions were already there waiting for us, hey ho, Wormhill will be there for another day. The roast beef and Yorkshire puddings were eaten al fresco We needed sweet treats next so we dropped down to the Yondermann The Rocky Road was popular @aeg missed out, just sayin' Belgian Chocolate, plus it contained Crunchie pieces, oh my Don't worry Glen, there are no fingerprints on that roll over bar, I am better trained than that Thank you to everyone for coming today, it's been just fabulous to see you all. The roads were quiet, the sun was warm and the cars ran well. For those that are not at Silverstone next weekend, it is a Bank Holiday and we will be out avoiding the tourist hot spots, see you then!

  45. Hi all I wanted to introduce an old familiar face some of you knew. As some will know I made the decision to sell my Yellow zetec in the hope of something quicker and more fitting to my ideal Westfield. This all started on the long way north starting line, Julie and Glenn approached me with a car they knew for sale, Over the weekend they spoke more about it and the idea grew. The following week my old car was collected by its new owner, and I rang Julies contact, Barry Wilson. Now the car in question was built by the late Steve Pitt (Bugman), a 2018 Sport 250. Barry had bought it following Steve’s sad passing, and then sat on it for the past few years. I read Steve’s amazing build diary and soon realised what an intricate person he was, everything was done to perfection. Admittedly there were a few electrical choices that weren't great but Barry has been slowly going through the car removing them. After a few visits to see the car and work out what needed doing to bring it back to its former glory, a deal was made and huge thanks to Barry who got it running for me. I had it collected and delivered this week and started straight away preparing it for its first MOT in years. The headlights weren’t working neither were the indicators, this was down to some wiring add ons Steve did years back. I checked the manual and sorted both issues, bolt checked and then booked an MOT. Drove to MOT station and had a few misfires on the way, also lost boost (turns out the pipe wasn’t tight enough) MOT passed with no issues so I headed for home… that’s where the misfire started again, this time however it got worse to where it sounds like an old Impreza. Managed to limp home, and started testing and checking plugs/coils. 1 plug seemed to be an issue so I ordered a set and collected today, popped them in along with some injector cleaner and hit the key Hey presto she’s alive and sounding great. A few jobs later, mainly checking brakes and suspension, a little clean and it was time for its first drive! Sooo nervous but very excited too. It went perfectly, there is little too much pre load on the rear suspension as it seems to bang the spring down over bumps but I’ll see if I can wind it back a bit. but overall really pleased, it has the power and looks I’ve wanted and has the potential for my own touches along the way. So I’d like to say a huge thanks to Julie and Glen for putting me in touch with Barry. And thanks to the rabble of mates who have helped over the last few days via messages. Ben/Rob/Gavin and Tim. i look forward to lots of adventures with it!
