Made a run down to the Ace Cafe this evening for a classic car, Midget, Sprite and Lotus evening. I got sandwiched between a Caterham and a 'donor' car (MG Midget), but I think I got away with it ..😅. It was dark when we left, so the first time driving in the dark, and around the A406 North Circular road to add to the excitement.15 points

Say hey, good lookin' - what ya got cookin'? Well it might be a Westfield and not a hot rod FORD but it sounds good. (Younger generation please google Hank Williams).Vicki @Steve Bosworth. We met at Quacker's cafe, it was freeeeezing and a bit cloudy but we were all glad to be out on a dry forecast. Car park. Jake, our photographer for the day, was taking some snazzy shots too. Inside Quacker's Cafe, nice and warm despite me suggesting we sit outside and Glen suggesting we didn't 😆 It's not the first time today we were all thanking Glen. Next we went on the run out, a route devised by Glen and what a cracker it was, thank you for the second time today, Glen 😍. A slight delay to the set off as Glynn had to change his shoes (not the stilleto's, that's this evening's club😮). Paul and Margaret were coming on the run and then disappearing early to get ready for a few months in Europe in the van, see you in June! We were booked in for lunch at The Bike and Boot, Hope Valley. A new build hotel for activity breaks and very welcoming to car clubs. Bike and Boot car park The menu is amazing, Glen had paella, not our usual kind of food Inside Bike and Boot We needed dessert after that so off we went to The Pavillion at Baslow and were greeted by the usual selection of sicklyness We sat outside and enjoyed our cakes in the warm sunshine We sit overlooking our beautiful cars. A man with a massive camera came over and asked if we raced them, we replied, 'No officer' 😁 The Pavillion Cafe overlooking the sports field and car park A brilliant day out, a good laugh, surprisingly quiet roads and establishments. Thanks for keeping the convoy together with all your excellent driving, it makes my life easier. Thank you to Glynn for guarding the rear of the convoy, also giving me peace of mind that everyone is looked after. See you all next time.14 points

We all met at Quacker's cafe and because the sun was out it was warm enough to sit outside. Parked at Quacker's We went on a drive through the Peak District on remarkably quiet roads, up high, with great views in the cool, clear air. The sunshine accentuating the scenery, it was glorious and I must thank all you great drivers for keeping the convoy together all the while. Parked at the Traveller's Rest, Bradwell Lunch inside at The Traveller's Rest, it was freezing by now as the clouds rolled in Jake, missing from the previous pic More food required so we went down to The Pavillion, Baslow Parked at The Pavillion Cake arrived Inside The Pavillion, far too cold to sit outside Another fantastic day out in our great little cars and another quiet Bank Holiday in the Peak District, can't believe our luck. Thank you to everyone for joining us today and see you all soon x10 points

I was at Piper Cams and Exhausts today collecting something non-Westfield related but absolutely stunning!! These items jumped into my car and mugged my credit card on the way... Fast road cams, vernier pulleys and followers for a Silvertop Zetec... should let a few more ponies out... Just have to work out how you fit and time them in now...10 points

Well I’ve managed to get an engineers report from a Vauxhall specialist that dates the engine at 1990 so no cat needed. I’ve also just had a reply back from DVSA who have confirmed this would be enough proof of the age of the engine! So I’m gonna take this to the test station soon… I will update on progress! Hopefully with an MOT pass!9 points

Good meet at Haynes Breakfast Club this morning. We met at Podimore before driving in for 8am. A total of twelve WSCC cars there from Dorset, Devon, Somerset and the chaps down from Surrey area too. Plenty of exotica in the paddock and main car park areas. Was quite warm when the sun shone, and the bacon rolls were good! Big shout out to @markat for making the 1 hr 40 min trek from Okehampton in somewhat chilly conditions, especially with aeroscreen!8 points

But apart from being an MOT tester, MOT tester trainer, MOT manager, MOT manager trainer, and 50 years of MOT experience, and a great club member and Area Organiser, what has Martyn ever done for us? 🤣8 points

Winter/spring engine rebuild...... Core plugs and oil bungs removed and acid dipped. Block bored to 87mm Block face skimmed. Head washed and skimmed. Late crank replaced with a spare early crank I had kicking about. Wossner steel rods and Omega intruder pistons fitted. ACL race bearings. New oil pump with uprated internal gear. QED 450V cams, race springs and steel caps fitted along with solid lifters. Vernier pulleys. Other things that I can't quite remember no doubt!!! All up and running with no coolant or oil leaks. But do want to recheck the shims for the lifters. All machine work done by Grace Engine Developments which luckily are 5 mins drive away!8 points

Looks like I’ve finished it !!! (well, still need to work on the corner weight, but I've set the rest of the geometry), but I’m almost afraid to say it (finished) ... because whenever I do, something turns out to need reworking and time flies. It has flown by so fast that I feel older and less eager for a machine that is definitely more extreme than the Westfields I used to drive. And now I don’t know if I’ll be able to ride it; it really seems fast (Honda CBR 1000RR, 192 horsepower, 129 Nm). After short run around home today, to bring temperatures to working area, check brakes etc.. brrrr it was sometimes scarry and loud, very loud (it has smal motocycle silencer )8 points
