  1. Two not so small upgrades: Replaced the fairly useless Mazda LSD with this: And fitted the PX600-box. Really lowered the noise which was the main point.

  6. I know it’s 4.45am. As some of you will know I am now fully recovered from fracturing a vertebrae (wife pushed me off a ladder). Sadly this accident has left me unable to drive Nessie for longer than 15mins. Given this I can’t leave him in the stable distressed & I need to find a new pilot. (Will have MOT for daylight running). Accepting the market is at a low point (economic conditions). I’m willing to accept £18,500. God knows what the car cost to build & develop - my estimate over £40k. Caterhams with similar performance change hands for £40k+. We all know Westfields are a much better 7. Please only seriously interested purchases. Should Maverick (Top Gun student) not step forward then sadly & with a heavy heart I will break Nessie & sell off the components. I would far rather see Nessie live on & enjoy more exciting adventures. Cheers Simon And Richard/Luke– Westfield SuperTec - 628BHP per Tonne - car well known by Troy at NMS (mapped ECU ) he is happy to discuss spec etc. Let me know if you would like to contact him so he is expecting contact.

  8. Hi Martin, thanks. We will see how it goes. I mentioned the Surrey area meeting to someone who had just bought a Westfield. I think he lives in Farnham.

  9. Just dropped you a PM The horizontal bar illuminates as a DRL, with dip above and beam below. Flat cut off for dip. Not tested at night yet but I do prefer the clear lens look. More modern feel Andy

  15. Update. I took it to central garage in Brixham and they got it up on the ramp and we all had a good look at chassis and suspension. Simon , the owner sprints and hill climbs and has his own 7 style car. He could see no damage to any of the chassis or suspension, given the damage to the tyre he recommended a new wheel just in case. So I have agreed a cash in lieu settlement. They agreed with my numbers for spare parts and for my labour i used the build manual to justify 22 hours work and I went with £50 an hour , which they accepted. It's not my fault but they still kept excess of £200, so I will use legal insurance to get that back. I have ordered a new ns rear wing from westfield chesil, due end August. In mean time starting to strip it down. Have a look at my build diary for progress.

  17. Took my car to Northampton Motorsport last week for some attention to the cold starts and a map check. Unless the car had been sitting in the garage on only the hottest of days, it would start fine but run a bit lumpy until — I can only guess — the coolant reached around 30°C or so. Easily resolved with a bit of gas or just starting to drive, but I wanted it checked over having previously replaced a duff CHT sensor. Troy spent a morning running it up and down on the dyno, changing some of the ECU (OMEX) base settings and tweaking all the low RPM fuelling maps. As far as I know, it was as out the box by Westfield beforehand. Apparently, it had been configured to look for 9000 RPM, and by reducing it to a more realistic 7500 RPM, it gained a load of “resolution” in the map — fuelling is now more discrete and precise across the RPM range. The idle control values were also set poorly in the ECU and needed doubling to their maximum. Anyway, it now starts and idles great, but I’ll need to wait for it to be truly “cold” to see how it behaves. The dyno work did manage to kill the exhaust bobbin — too hot in low or no airflow — but it’s easy enough to replace. The whole team there were really helpful and deserve the good reputation they get on the forum.

  19. I made mine out of this - 1mm carbon fibre sheet Here's my template. check for size in paper first. Carbon fibre roll cage foot cover.pdf Cut with a Dremel and stuck to the fibreglass with 3M VHB Tape. Make sure you put masking tape around the roll bar when test fitting the item as the carbon fibre edges can scratch (don't ask how I know). Make the slit with a fine hack saw blade.

  20. Well after a week of EV ownership I felt the need to clense the sole and have a blast in the westy(well had a few little errands to run) thought it felt a little loose just the last mile or so. Parking up to go to pets at home and discovered the reason. Big thanks to the Aa man for sorting me and getting me home. New tyre required
