My VERY VERY Lucky Escape

Was at Castle Combe yesterday and the car was absolutely flying.

Then this happened.

A simple fault. Fuel rail bracket had cracked meaning the rail could move a couple of mm. That was all that was needed to pop an injector o-ring.

SO SO lucky that it happened where it did. Anywhere else and it would have been BBQ westy and the car would be gone!

As long as your ok.

i've had this happen twice over the years, its amazing how quick you can get out of the motor.

Hope there is not to much damage.

Here was the mess just after

After an hour at home

Gonna strip the ancillaries off the engine to get the rest off today.

Looks like mainly wiring damage and a few plastics hoses for sensors and water injection etc. Most stuff if aeroquipped so survived no problems. Air-filter is toasted too!

Thank Christ for that!

Having done the "All posts by Polly_X" thing, it is evident the R&D you have put into the car is nothing short of amazing.  To loose all that would be so, so sad.

See people, Cosworths never die, they just have a quick snooze then bounce back.

Signed by an old fart who loves Cosworth power.

Glad you're OK, that would have scared the living daylights out of me !

Good response time from the marshalls. One second they are standing around chatting, next they are putting the flames out. Good jobs guys :t-up:

I love the temperature reading on the video....40 degrees, then marshall comes along and gives it a big blast through the top vent and it drops to zero  :D

With your ability to find the right place at the right time maybe you should take up rallying!

Glad you're OK and I hope that the damage is minimal.

Looking at the top right of the picture ,it looks like you have it on a drip. ;)

Looks better after a clean.
