The live mode is actually quite handy at times. The phone is clever and picks the best frame from the video as the still. For instance, if taking a picture of someone, it will pick the frame with their eyes open generally, or you can manually choose it. Batteries last longest when you run them down all the way before recharging. Constant recharging from half full reduces the capacity more quickly I believe. It should last pretty well on the new one, and you can also enable low power mode which helps it last longer by turning off certain non essential services. It’s in the battery menu in settings.

Thank you all, that seems to be a default to on then. Will check this out thank you all. ETA All done set to off thank you, I wonder what the point of it was, all it did was produce a somewhat slo mo vid of the photo. Any thoughts on battery?.

Hi Richard - the clips are called "live photos" - to turn them off go to the camera and click on the second icon from the left (the icon is a dot surrounded by a solid ring then a dashed ring). I would take a photo for you but I need my phone for that! Sorry, can't answer your battery question.

Richard, You need to switch 'live' off tap on the circle on the top rhs, tap again and it toggles back to live

Patchs A.I and the NHS ?.

I don't use that either for the reasons given, I may be just being over cautious but still not happy with 3rd party companies.

Patchs A.I and the NHS ?.

If it's in the NHS app then they'll likely have it already. Although I haven't come across this one at all - the one I use is called Patient Access.

Hi, is there a way to turn off the 2 second-ish clip that seems to appear in every photo I take, I never use them and it seems a waste of memory to me . So when I take a picture there is a .jpeg and .mov file of the same thing. Also whilst I am here what percentage to let your phone get down to before plugging in, as I am trying to maximise the life of the battery I have enabled the 80% charge in the settings, but unsure of the best time to recharge and not get caught out when out and about.
  15. Richard (OldStager)

Patchs A.I and the NHS ?.

It's not my address or bank card details ( I have no money LOL) I am concerned with, we all have to part with those just to function today , its my medical history being known to those outside the NHS, why should they know I have ... well many issues going on. Only the NHS should know that NOT some 3rd party company whom I don't particularly trust.

Patchs A.I and the NHS ?.

@Richard (OldStager) if you have an iPhone then chances are Apple already know everything about you. If you use Amazon ditto. I once even caught Amazon out sharing some of my data with Google. I'm a bit paranoid about it too, but unfortunately it's a fact of life these days. I just ensure that I use two-factor authorisation everywhere. Really annoys me that these huge corporations can track you without ever specifically asking permission to do so.
  17. A pleasure doing business with you @Warhon3. I hope you have as many enjoyable enjoyable years with it as I did.

Good turn out of frog spawn this year.

Indeed Steve, I purposely built the pond just for frogs, never had much luck with plants in ponds. Although it's a bit disconcerting when on a damp dark night I go out to the garage and have to dance over the many frogs on the paving. Thankfully, never hit one yet...

Good turn out of frog spawn this year.

Takes me back to.my childhood when you would see spawn everywhere every single year. Those of us who remember the 60s and 70s are painfully aware of the lack of wildlife there days. Hardly see a bird or butterfly by comparison today. Sad times I find
  20. Fitted the new pipe and it appears to have fixed the problem. So dropped it at my local MOT station and happily it passed (as expected). Now I can tax it and take it for a spin. So happy days are here again.

Good turn out of frog spawn this year.

Anyone else reporting the same. Hard to tell in a photo, but the black liner part is full of them, I wondered why the water was moving so much and went to see...

If it helps I sent a set of wheels and tyres with DPD recently, each were boxed individually and it worked out a just over £10 a wheel.

Patchs A.I and the NHS ?.

Hmmm, goes against all I believe in , however this new group appear to be no more than a go between for appointments etc, I know the NHS are on their knees, but have they got so bad they can't even handle taking appointments now ?. Together with the message yesterday was a missed phone call, I rang it back and an automated message said they would call ME back...
  27. As someone who hates doing the same job twice, agree with @joolz, my last lot of of unbranded "supposed" Ethanol proof pipe lasted 3 years... Yes the named ones are more expensive but thats's for a reason - they work.
