Recent snap of your Westfield
Stuart Davis (fatblokestu) AO - Devon & Somerset replied to SXRORY's topic in The Start Line
I believe most of them have a De Dion rear suspension, although recently I found out the the CSRs have fully independent suspension. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Dion_suspension https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caterham_7_CSR -
Congrats Craig, welcome back to Westy land, hope we all have a decent summer, although not the 40 deg we had a few years back, that was a bit much lol...

Transporting Car from England to Northern Ireland

No I don’t think so. Northern Ireland is still classed as part of the UK. Different story if I was from Republic of Ireland. -

I think I may have read that also. Independent rear had to be a better idea right? What do modern day Caterhams have?
-
I actually quite like the MNR front end too. Bit of an acquired taste but it stands out from the crowd.

Appreciate all the help. Will let use know if I make the journey! -
I would add that better than any other 7-type car. MK, GBS, GKD/DMO, MNR.. maybe Donkevoort wins there, but that is supercar category rather than simple lightweight straight 7-type. But saing that, all 7 type looks and are great! I have heard that this falling out with caterham ended with independent suspension rear in Westfields too (to differentiate Westfield from Caterham) . Not sure if this is true ?

That too!

Ah, that's the issue is it thank you Stuart, I was unaware . The receipt of payment says 362.25 but no mention of DD at all, I am guessing then despite the website saying it had failed, it actually had worked then?. I have just checked my bank app, my order with CBS from today is there but nothing from DVLA at all. Box is still red on the check site, but I know it may take day or so for that to change. Not that bothered about the green box bit as the cars in bits anyway and will be till next week anyway, it was more I didn't want to pay all in one go this year.

2006 Factory built SEIW 1.8 Zetec with full weather gear £10950 ono
NickT posted a topic in Westfields for Sale
Factory-built wide body Westfield SEiW. 1.8L Zetec engine with 2.0L cams giving 149bhp. Ex ToyBox car so has the ToyBox headlights and the carbon-effect body stripe. 14800 miles from new. ULEZ compliant. In 2018 Northampton Motorsport fitted Zetec 2L cams and replaced the timing belt, water-pump and thermostat. The MBE 967 ECU was set up on their rolling road to produce 149bhp @6900rpm with a nice flat torque profile. See photo copy of the dyno printout. Note the engine has the Westfield intake plenum and sports cat exhaust with heat-shield. The car is very driveable and pulls strongly and smoothly even at full throttle from low revs. The car has un-marked Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 wheels with Toyo Proxes. There is also a matching spare for fitting on the back. The suspension is adjustable for ride-height and damping and has an adjustable front anti-roll bar. The underneath of the car is very clean and rust-free. The bodywork is in good condition and has the quick-release nose-cone. The car has Westfield seats and harnesses and is carpeted throughout. The steering wheel is quick-release with a Westfield boss. There is full weather gear (side windows, hood and frame) which can fold down into the rear lockable boot-box. In addition there are a pair of Perspex wind-deflectors which can be used as an alternative to the side windows. There are two keys and the car has a key-operated (hidden) electrical cut-out for security. There is a fused USB power supply under the dash. The only minor fault is that the plastic screen bow which is bonded to the hood and sits on top of the screen is broken in the middle where the notch is. This is apparently a common problem because of the design. The hood still fits OK but I suspect at speed it would lift in the middle (I’ve never driven it with the hood on so I don’t know). Replacement trims are available for £49.99 from Westfield-Sportscars P/N 5559001 should you see the need! https://westfield-sportscars.co.uk/shop/5559001-hood-trim-extrusion-to-suit-standard-wide-body-windscreens-9293?page=2&category=135#attr= The car comes with a water-proof, breathable cover. I have owned the car since September 2023 when I bought it “on a high” after having successful surgery. Unfortunately the high has not lasted and I realise that I’m too old and decrepit to use it as planned – hence it is up for sale. Hey ho! I can be contacted on gd427car@gmail.com -
It went up 1st April. IIRC from £325 to £345 for a one off 12 month payment for mine. Always tax mine 31st March to stave it off for a year....

Looking for the big wing sump for the Vauxhall C20XE engine if anyone has one as don't fancy buying a brand new one. Even better if you have a dip stick to go with it

And longer, the Caterham to me looks a little bit 'stubby-nosed'

Hi Ian, well I was in the garage most of the day on and off, and during the afternoon I got an email saying this Vehicle Tax Period: 12 months Vehicle Tax Amount Paid: GBP 362.25 Vehicle Tax Period: 12 months Although the car is legal again, that's not what I wanted, I went through each page of the process choosing pay by direct debit filled all the boxes in it asked for, then when I pressed the submit or send or whatever it was it returned a page saying the application for road tax had failed, please either start over or ring DVLA. I didn't want £362 going out in one day, that messed me up a bit really, not critical but not ideal either. Oh well life happens and all that. eta - oh hang on, I wonder if that is 362 over the 12 months via instalments, the rest of their " Your car is taxed "email does not mention DD, I need to check what DD payments amount over 12 months. erm, my v11 reminder letter has a total of £341 if using DD over 12 months not the £362 I seem to have paid today, has tax gone up , I got this reminder maybe 3 or 4 weeks ago.

Me too! I think it is the narrower nose which makes it look better.

Awww thanks Steve, yeah it's more common than folks think, trouble is folks don't talk about it because of the stigma, well I changed my tack on that some years ago and thought sod if I'm not well I will say why. The only sticking point to that is by the time I have realised that I am bad again, I don't communicate much, so places like here just see me disappear with no word - I must change that.

I don't know you Richard but welcome back and never forget you are not alone. From one sufferer to another - stay strong, reach out if you need to, many of us have suffered I'm certain of that.

Likewise, perhaps bias, but I think the falling out with Caterham was the best thing that could have happened to Westfield SC. Although to the average guy in the street it is a Caterham because that's all he has seen on TopGear and the likes.
