Just hope it is either battery or voltage regulator, nothing worse... start to hate this car.. Tommorow will get new battery , try to start and see what voltage regulator supply to current. As I was told should be approx 14,4V. From memory I saw only 12,8-13,5 V this area. So maybe voltage rgulator failure.

From memory... lots of race bikes don't have a battery and hence have external starters. The external starter is typically a bump start in a box... put bike in gear, spin up rear wheel using the starter and dump the clutch.... IIRC some manufacturers went posh and had starters that plugged into the engine/gearbox somewhere. In WSBK, years ago, Ten Kate were one of the few teams to keep a battery on the bike as they said the ability to start the bike easily after an "incident" was worth the weight. Everyone else had to run along, drop the clutch and jump on, or get a push from the marshalls.

Loads of times I had to jump my busa powered car after leaving the lights or the fan on. Just had to make sure to go on a decent drive once running again, or it would need jumped again if I stopped and turned it off too quickly. It would run no bother though once started. I stalled once at some road works traffic lights, after having recently jump started it. Me brother and a friend, had to quicky jump out their cars, push start me, then jump back in theirs and get us all out the way, was a completely hilarious circus act.

It's not true your engine should keep running after jump start with a dead battery if it doesn't then your charge system is at fault somewhere

Hi Mark, I've got a pair of cycle wing brackets for Cortina uprights you can have for free. I was close to chucking them out. They'd benefit from a lick of paint, but if they get you out of a jam... Happy to run them down to you - it'll give me an excuse for a ride out.

    Bad day

Late to read this @Craigieboy, and really sorry to hear about your accident. Just to echo what has been said, so glad you are ok and no one was badly hurt. Hope the soreness doesnโ€™t last too long, and as others have said, take your time deciding what to do. My car was fixed by the chap who bought it off me, wasnโ€™t ever claimed under insurance but because I know it was done very comprehensively it has never worried me, so I bought it back ๐Ÿ˜Š Take care ๐Ÿ‘, and agreed re holiday. Get yourself checked out and sorted from that perspective.

  18. Sunday 15th of June This was going to be a driving day, where we would get to our next stay almost directly, and then did the last 20 miles or so the very long way around. It turned out a 9 hour exercise, including lunch, and many petrol stops for yours truly. When we finally arrived at the 2nd stay in Saint-Georges-de-Commiers, the pool was a welcoming sight

Very sad to hear but at least you aren't badly hurt, the car can always be fixed or replaced. As others have said, take your time to reflect and decide on the course of action.....

  21. Saturday, 14th of June After an eventful night, met up with my son and headed for the tunnel. Then it was an easy trip to Reims where we re-united with the others. A French friend from last year who isn't joining us this year decided he was going to say hello as well, whilst a German friend would meet us at the first stay in Andert-et-Condon.

That has potential to be an absolute bargain for somebody. The parts alone are worth a lot more than the current price and whilst itโ€™s probably not the best chassis for Craig to use as a basis for rebuild due to the difference in years it could still be worth it to cut up and use to replace the damaged chassis sections.

This MNR really dont want to be driven...year ago few laps and front suspension issues , seems sorted , today battery went almost flat (5 yrs old , some of that yrs not charged, and tired with resting electric reverse.. I know , i should or chage for new. Especialy i was observing some visible voltage droops after every start...But i was not aware that bike engine cant work after start with external battery.. (is really true ? - question for BEC Users ) Chat GPT says that in motorbike engines is fundamental to have some battery capacity . The same said motorbike mechanic met in depo. Anyway, another DNF with MNR. With Westfield it was only one in first track run, then many trackdays always finished and on podium.
