Julian from Aerodynamix had given me a small strip of carbon at last years Stoneleigh show and today I can finally make some use out of it.

So transfer the shape and go at it with the Dremel

Received my QR today and after a fiddly hour or so got it all assembled

Bought some nearly new tyres/wheels on Ebay, but after fitting them discovered that the centre caps would not fit as the studs were too long. Used some 3mm spacers on the back so they'd fill the arches a bit better, and for the front I just took some 3mm off the stud using the angle grinder.

Finished the day with a fresh oil change and replaced the sump plug and washer with new items. Then taxed the car and drove it for the 1st time this year!

Time to finish the last piece in the puzzle... interfacing the steering wheel back to the car using a panel mounted RJ45/cat5 coupler and covered the part visible rusty steering column with a heatshrunk tube

I rotated the fuse/relay board as I didn't like the position, and then I tie-wrapped everything into neat little bundles. Put the scuttle back in place and gave the wiring one final look before I screwed down the dash. Done!

Took the car to work and to my dismay it seems that the steering wheel is not on straight and my left indicator is working intermittently. Some more work to do 😕

I bought a very nice silencer of Barny and found a local welding place who is able to shape my link pipe in such a way that it will marry up the manifold and silencer. To keep costs down I created a cardboard template for the guy to use instead of trial and error on the car.

The template was created easy enough, but I was not happy with the exhaust fit in relation to the bodywork. So to bring the exhaust a bit closer to my bodywork I re-drilled the bracket and grinded off the excess metal.

and re-did the cardboard template again

I still wasn't happy with the proposed link pipe shape, so after a small discussion with the welder, we agreed that a small cut in the manifold and one in the link pipe would keep the bends more natural.
