The State pension will become worthless over the next years because regardless of what has been payed in, the amount of people taking out grows. It is inherently unfair as those who pay in the most do not get back the most and this will continue with winter fuel allowance and bus passes being means tested.

The new auto enrolment is designed that every one has their own pension, but people can opt out if they want so they will.

My pet is if you are hapilly married, both 40% tax payers when you reach retirement age you get married persons allowance which is less than two single people. Clearly that is not fair.

What is even worse is due to the economy and the thieving that Gordon Brown did, my pension pot has been reduced and the value of what it will give me drastically cut.

Jeff, can't disagree.

However, I think you're getting the new private pension scheme mixed up with the new proposal which is everyone gets a state pension (£140 per week is mentioned) irrelevant  of paying in.

However, and I'll say it again, why are we putting up with this state of affairs. The French wouldn't, they would be burning tyres in the streets of Paris if their government did what ours do.

The public need to protest and get a party that will do what they're supposed to and look after our interests.

I see cuts to the NHS, education, Police, local services, everywhere there are cuts and people's pay is going backwards in real terms.

Has there been any cuts to the cost of Government? Has there been any changes that will reduce the cost of government.

Two simple things will save billions. Transfer VED to a few pennies extra on fuel duty. Go to a negative tax system where everyone is paid, say £140 per week and those in employment pay their first £140* back in PAYE. The spin offs are enormous, no one dodging VED, a real cut in civil servants and costs in handing out a small round piece of paper. No one building up benefits to huge amounts (I knew of one chap who was drawing £400 a week's worth in benefits in the 1990's. He couldn't afford to get a job so he worked for £30 cash a day as a builders labourer).

Get out of other peoples wars and reduce our armed services to what we need to defend ourselves. Probably 10% of what we spend now. We haven't been a world power since 1945 so why do we still act as if we are. However, the real reason for massive cuts in our defence budget is that we can't afford it. Would you rather look after ourselves in our daily lives or spend the money fighting someone else's war?
