Norman Verona Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 So, what your favourite meal and which restaurant would you have it. I'll pick 6 oysters followed by a lobster plain grilled in butter. And all washed down with a good (expensive) bottle of Chardonnay. Where? George V. Paris. Quote
peterg Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Probably something like beef or duck carpaccio followed by beef tenderloin or fillet and then I'd peruse the dessert menu.... served with either a Barolo or Gevrey Chambertain and I'd have it at La Perle de Prague, the restaurant on the rooftop of the 'Fred & Ginger' building in Prague. http://www.czrb.cz/detail.asp?detail=6&code=4 I've eaten there and it was the best meal I've ever had and afterwards we got talking to the manager and he took us out onto the rooftop as a sportswear company (Nike I think) were doing a laser show and he thought we'd like to see it from up there ;-) Quote
iain m Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Did you try George l, II, lll, and lV, first :suspect: Quote

ajpearson Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 I went to Gidleigh Park after my wedding last year. it is owned by Michael Caines (The Chef) 2 Michelin Stars, and we did an 11 course meal with matching wines, by far the best meal I have ever eaten. And we were even served our breakfasts personally by him on our first morning there. Did help he found out I was in the Forces as he is a big fan Quote
User0083 Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Fresh Cornish lobster out of the holding tank on the beach down the road from my house in Devon as a starter, followed by whatever I catch and BBQ that evening, with local veg from so eone's back garden.. For dessert my dark cherry tiramisu... I'll have verve clicot with starter, tattinger with main and rose tattinger with dessert. Did I mention I'm a qualified chef and worked in the Royal Clarence, Exeter, until I got bored of it and joined the army!!! Lol I love food. Quote
Norman Verona Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 Cornish Lobster from Devon? Shouldn't that be Devon lobster? We used to go to Ireland every year. We found a tiny restaurant, more like a cafe really near ballyvaghan opposite Galway across the bay. Half dozen oysters and a perfectly prepared lobster. But you have to wait for the lobster as he goes out in his boat to get one from one of his lobster pots. Ordinary chairs, melamine covered tables, tiled floor but the best oysters and lobsters we've ever found. Mind you HM won't have the lobster, she has sausages and mash. Quote

pistonbroke Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Pie and Chips in brown sauce at summat to eight ! washed down with an old speckled hen or two Quote
alexander72 Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 You can spot guest's lobsters Norm.... it's in a holding tank and it's the one with carbon stripes on the claws and neon lights (only joking cherry) Nice menu mate..... bit heavy on the fizz for me.... I used to have lunch most days in Simpsons in the city off cornhill, very nice steak and bubble for about £12 a head with a sausage on the side. Posher lunches would be at Caravaggio's on Leadenhall St, or Tubby Isaac's on Aldgate High Street. My fav lucnh in the city was the bagel shop on brick lane.... just awesome salt beef. I haven't eaten in the city for a decade - prefer my sarnies in the woods :-) Quote
