pistonbroke Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Years ago I witnessed what seemed like 200 coppers escorting about 75 football hooligans / fans from the rail station to Wigan Athletics stadium , made me wonder if football was the breeding ground for violence and hooliganism . Personally think the mindset and behavior of the players on the pitch has had a big effect on there supporters , dont understand why they cant be made to toe the line and show a better example to the youth of the world compare to rugby league / union , all the violence on the pitch , we hardly see any otside or in the stands , Why ? P.S. Still no wiser about Harry Houdini ? unless you mean that Rednap chappie ? Quote
Norman Verona Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 Yes, Harry Redknapp. He's become the specialist escape artist keeping teams up when they seem doomed to relegation. Why is there violence at football matches (but a lot less than there used to be) and not at Rugby? Because only idiots go to football matches. Quote

It was said somewhere that Rugby is a game for ruffians, played by gentlemen, whereas football is a game for gentlemen but played by ruffians. Or was that the other way around... Quote
User0083 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 D'oh! I was hoping to start a debate! But you're right. I know some people who's whole life's are football and they're totally respectful and educated. Also the amount of money the sport brings with it is unreal! I think if football had an international ban half of Italy would collapse! Ferrari would go, Italian clothing brands with go I to liquidation... Everything footballers spend their money on and promote would suffer! That's the argument I was waiting for in response. See Norman, I enjoy our debates and they gimme sommin to do while Mrs C watches stuff about moving house, decorating houses, restoration of houses, selling houses or property prices! On the 10th the sofa arrives for the other living room and I can get cars on the tele! Quote
