Davep1 Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 The freesat PVR is king in our house- even the kids spend a while with the tv guide to select what they (really) want to watch (record) so live TV is almost out for us now - no more inane ads for DFS or whatever!! The 2000 year old time machine programme was fascinating .. Dave Quote
Welly Jen Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Once upon a time there were long empty intervals between programmes , these were filled by "The Interlude " You could watch for e.g. "The Potters Wheel " captivating viewing ? or you got to watch Goldfish swimming around inside a bowl ( I kid you not ) . Daytime TV we had long hours of "the test card " displayed ( for the benefit of us engineers ). either of the above were infinitely more interesting than most of todays televised dross , and cost almost nothing to produce You've given me an idea for a program. "Britain's Next Test Card Model" Would fit in well with a lot of what's on. Quote

pistonbroke Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Don't forget the little girl with the clowns. Ah yes ! Test card F Everything , even the little girl and clown doll had a purpose on the test card , the X in the noughts and crosses marked the exact center of the shadow mask screen , it was used to check and if needed re align the static convergence of the 3 electron beams used to produce the picture .
