kirkyboy5 Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Im not a newbie as such but I feel like it sits best in this arena as its a bit of a newbie question. For example, If I was to change a Pinto engine to a different engine i.e a duratec would the vehicle need to be checked at all before being put on the road. Im aware I need to contact DVLA as the log book would change etc but would it need to be IVA tested? Regards Dan Quote
peterm135 Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 i don't think you will have to IVA again if you change an engine, as long as the car has been registered. you don't for any other mods, probably a bit of a grey area ! Quote
kirkyboy5 Posted December 20, 2012 Author Posted December 20, 2012 yeh thats what i thought. not much guidence on it anywhere! Quote
Meakin Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 The short answer is no. Once its passed the IVA its passed. I checked online and on other forums etc. as I'm swapping from xflow to zetec. Interestingly enough the emissions stop the same as the IVA test so my zetec will be tested on visual test only (nice ) You have to tell the dvla the change of capacity for the V5 I have heard that they sometimes require some kind of proof (presumably the MOT test can do this).
