Mobile Phone Holder

Any of you guys found a decent holder for your mobile phone whilst driving the Westfield?

At the moment, mine goes in a jacket or trouser pocket, and then I get a rollocking for not responding to her indoors if she needs me when I am out blatting

I dont want to answer the phone or use it whilst driving, but just secure it somewhere so I can see if it is ringing

I want to avoid a suction cup mounted holder on the windscreen

Suggestions anyone?

something from www.brodit.se would suffice I expect, screw the bracket into the dash?

I was going to suggest those grippy gel Matt things ... I'd not trust my phone on one during a blat!!!

Why not use a small map pocket on the dash or tunnel (under handbrake) Can be used for other stuff if not used for phone too.

Or a contoured dash? Lol

In re-doing my dash this winter I found I didn't quite have room for a ETB DD2 directly in front of me on dash so have put it in centre of dash. Have a neat little space though now for a smartphone in front of me. Have decided to Velcro the space so I can attach / detach iPhone when needed. Will be running the 'Speedbox' app which is a gps digital speedo (so I can set the DD2 to show revs or gear) and I can run pocket world's 'camera alert' app in the background which saves me about £100 on the DD2 option! - and works better in the sense that I can update the database anywhere / anytime. Lots of other great apps worth trying too like 'Harry's lap timer' which looks good too.

How can an app show which gear you are in?

Dd2 shows the gear, app shows the speed

There are some places where you don't want to be disturbed, especially mobile phones

1. Whilst driving the Westfield

2. Down the pub

3. On holiday

I didn't have a mobile for the 1st. 40 years of my life and managed fine. If it's an emergency there will always be a way for someone to contact you.

Why can't you just check your phone when you stopped driving, sure they all have a missed call display.

In my original post, I did say I have no intention of answering it whilst driving, but I would like to see that I have missed a call, so that I can pull over and deal with whatever the call was for, if I wanted to.

Simple as that, I dont need people to analyse why I want a holder, just recommend one if they are using one that suits my criteria ;)

I had considered the grippy mat things as well, but also do not trust them.

I was thinking along the lines of a normal style holder with velcro on the back somehow to hold it on the tunnel carpet, but a small map holder/net is not a bad shout. Now to try and find one

dont talk to me about phones and dashboards

I managed to ruin a perfectly good iphone on my Wales trip earlier this year although I only have myself to blame   :d :d

I use one of the gel mats sitting on my tunnel top and the phone doesn't move at all. Like you, I was dubious about them til I tried one, but they are amazingly effective and a simple cheap solution
