Directions RAF Elvington is situated 7 miles south east of York City and 2 miles north west of Elvington Village. The site lies adjacent to the B1228 Elvington Lane which leads to the A64 York Bypass. From the B1228 look for Halifax Way and Whitby Road which lead to the entrance gate to the airfield (on the right of the entrance to the Air Museum). Itinerary 09.00 Driver, passenger, spectator sign-on 09.30 Full safety briefing 09.45 Parade laps 10.00 Driving begins 12.30 Morning driving ends - Lunch 13.00 Afternoon driving begins 16.00 - 17.00 End of day(depending on light and weather conditions) Facilities A burger van and toilets are onsite all day. The Yorkshire Air Museum is based on site and it's facilities include an excellent NAAFI-type canteen and restaurant,toilets, workshops and a book & souvenir shop. Opening times however vary throughout the year. This can be accessed by making a donation to the museum. See you all there and dont forget your long sleeved top, helmet and driving licence! I will be bringing all my tools with me ( including my electric wheel nut buzz gun )for anyone who has any problems with their car.
