GreigM Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Anyone else going? I see its sold out so should be a busy day.......hope the weather is either dry or p******** down, can't be bothered with the inbetween greasy track nonsense. Quote
dave_t Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 I'm not booked in, Greig ... but may pop along to watch for a couple of hours I was Oulton a couple of weeks ago, and had an absolutely fantastic day ... hope the weather is good for you Quote
AdamR Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Yep, I'm booked on Mike has limited it to 70 places so shouldn't be too busy. Will be in a Blue Mk1 MX-5 if the weather is poo, or in my Westy if it's good... Looking forward to it! Adam Quote
AdamR Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Got a few other mates going in MX-5s so taking that now - will be doing a little rain dance Tuesday night! Have a garage (and van) if you need anywhere to leave stuff Greig Quote
GreigM Posted November 12, 2012 Author Posted November 12, 2012 Have got a garage - never leave it to chance with the Westfield There's 6 of us coming down, me, a caterham with the old swept wings (but he's bl**dy quick even with em ), a Boxster, a 911 GT3, a 911 GT3 RS and the most mental 911 Turbo race car you've ever seen (which started life as a bog standard automatic car).... Quote
AdamR Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Haha - good idea! Kinda wish I was taking the Westy now... Quote
AdamR Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 A bit late, and not in the Westy, but just so I will remember I actually went How did you get on Greig? I think we were with each other for the first few laps of the day - certainly remember a fully-caged yellow-with-black-striped Westy sitting behind me waiting to go out for the first session, then following you round for a few laps until your slicks had got some heat and you disappeared into the distance Quote
GreigM Posted November 19, 2012 Author Posted November 19, 2012 Generally got on fine, yes really struggled to get tyre temperature and those slicks are getting a bit past their best. It was a very good day though, I thought driving standards were high and relatively few stoppages. I did end up blowing an oil seal at the very end of the day, but it didn't spoil the day, so not a big deal. What was your reg no? I'll see if I can dig out some footage (not really looked at my vids yet).... Quote
Tonsko Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 Wish I could have been there. Oh well - better than damaging the engine with a dodgy ECU. Quote
AdamR Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 Good stuff Greig, and yes, the driving standards seemed good apart from the odd one or two! People hate moving over for an MX-5, haha. My reg starts G774, I don't remember seeing you on track much though, and it will have only been a very fleeting encounter I think Had a quick look at your vids on YouTube last night, car was going well - can't believe how much low speed grip you have! Shame about the oil seal... Quote
pistonbroke Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 Those chicanes better taken in 3rd Quote
AdamR Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 Weellll yes and no - on crap road tyres with a passenger, I prefer 2nd - having the extra engine braking was handy to get the nose to turn in, especially in the 2nd chicane. With track tyres and no passenger, definitely 3rd! Quote
