I guess, because it's anniversary time and the launch of Skyfall etc, that the door was opened for Mr Hammond to have access to all the cars. Made it worthwhile IMO.

Me too.... although I was 22 when that film came out :(

I thought it was a good programme on the whole (if you want to see Hammond at his most irritating, try watching any episode of Richard Hammonds Crash Course, it's truly dire....)

Oh god! - Crash course! - the 1st episode was ok - it was a tank - what's not to like? After that, a vertical drop downhill - I mean - who on earth wants to watch someone driving a jcb/trash compactor/shovel truck? They really scraped the barrel with that show :-(

Spot on. They can all present good programmes, even the annoying little twit hamster who still deserves a slap for trying to look cool driving a pre war Bentley with straight arms (probably his arms were so short it was unavoidable). But the rehearsed ad libs and the adolescent Top Gear humour started to wear thin on me years ago and surely any discerning viewer, anyone over the age of 15 deserves better.

Depends whether he's being a caricature of himself or not. (Just like any of the three really, I suppose). When he's on his own though and doing something a bit more factual, I usually find he's OK

I like Top Gear enough to put up with a weak episode every so often. This was a weak episode, IMHO of course...

I was left wondering how they got the submarine car out of the reservoir ...

Knowing the Top Gear crew they probably blew it out the water.

Just sat and watched it with my boys, I think it was pretty good
