FILFAN Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 how did he come up with that idea. wonder if it works Quote
jeff oakley Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 This will work just like using vinigar or coke. all of these products are acidic so will remove rust if you have enough time to leave them and a big enough tank Quote
pistonbroke 2 Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Thinking about cleaning yer teeth then Bro. :d Quote
SootySport Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Molasses is a by product of sugar cane, I don't think there is any acidic substances in that. So I'm curious why a sugar substance removes rust. Quote
dombanks Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 im guessing ....... the molasses has a small level of suphur in them after the boiling process, this would create a weak suphuric acid that is good enough to reomve the rust but weak enough to not to damage the base metal. quite nifty if you ask me Quote
Fat Albert Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Rust in molasses/water reacts to form phosphoric acid (a common ingredient in off-the-shelf rust converters) right where it is needed Try it with cider, the scrumpier the better Quote
