Front Plates

TAFKARM

Recommended Posts

Managed to have an incident with a kerb and broke my front plate in half (honest officer!)

I'm obviously going to replace it with a fully legal regular sized plate for the road, but was wondering what you guys ran on the track and at shows?

I dont really want to leave it off altogether and don't like the stick on plates. Anyone running a 3/4 size one, and do you have a pic?

Cheers!!

On the track, both plates come off and stay off.

On the Road I have a road legal on on the back and a small bike one on the front. but I don't like it as spoils the Carbon front splitter....... Prob going to get a sticker one

I believe it's less of an offence to not have a plate than it is to have a damaged or illegal plate

I know strictly they are not legal, but I think as long as font is legal, spacing is legal, you have postcode of "where they were made" the GB bit on the side and clearly not some dodgy looking thing you'll be ok. The only thing not legal about these is the size and it's not massively out. Been stopped by plod for other reasons, passed three mot's and not once have they been commented on.

Forgive my ignorance, but could you adhere a standard number plate to the 45-degree angle of the splitter? You could bevel the bottom edge of the number plate to an angle so that it reduces the attack thickness of the leading edge of the combined splitter / number plate combination, or use a non-standard (i.e. illegal and not recommended) stick-on number plate if you're feeling lucky and wish to chance your arm.

AFAIK, the law states you must affix the number plate to a vertical surface on the front of the car - that splitter face is more vertical than the top of the nose cone.

Just a thought...soon to be shot down in flames! :d

When next to other cars there's a difference, but not that much.
