Norman Verona Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Thanks chaps, I've deleted my account. I must have created it in a moment of madness but it's going now. So to all my friends on here, sorry, it's nothing personal but I just haven't time to be messing with it. Quote
Kevin Jones Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 There are a couple of other things you should always do when using Facebook for better security. 1. Turn on 'Secure browsing' under 'Account Settings -> Security' 2. Check the URL in the browser starts with 'https' when you logon, if not the secure browsing is not working properly. The default settings used on FB are OK for home use but not really good enough if you access over other networks, particularly WiFi. Quote
Mike H Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 But aren't these things linked to email accounts? Could it be that someone has hacked her email instead? You should change the password on any linked email accounts too. You don't want someone pretending they've forgotten the password and getting in via some kind of password reset message sent to her email account. Mike Quote
JeffC Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 I wondered about that, Ive joined a couple of other forums and simply log in using my facebook account, will this then pass my log in info onto others ? Quote
Kevin Jones Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Think Mike is spot on about the email account being another route in. Jeff, its fine if they redirect you to login at FB, i.e. it's a FB login page that you enter your password on. In that case FB just tells the forum you have logged in OK so your password is protected. There is a downside though, logging in with a FB id helps FB track you better and can let the forum take liberties with your account, not a security issue just a privacy one that FB like to exploit to the max along with Google, Apple et al.
