DerekJ Posted October 5, 2012 Author Posted October 5, 2012 Hi Jeff, My daughter's account. She has the password but thinks that someone else has access to her account. She's de-activated the account but it's been re-activated so she wants to delete it for good. I have no knowledge of FB and I'd like to do this quickly so any exact instructions would be appreciated Thanks for the reply. Quote
GreigM Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 this link: https://www.facebook.com/help/contact.php?show_form=delete_account should do it. Might need to be signed in first though Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Click help Type "delete account" in the search field Pic the top result "how do i permanently delete my account?" Follow the instructioons, links and fill in the required form Quote
DerekJ Posted October 5, 2012 Author Posted October 5, 2012 Thanks guys, Done that now but if someone else has access they can re-activate the account within 14 days. Is there an way to delete the account now. Quote
kevip6 Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Why don't you log on and change the password? They won't be able re activate it then Quote
ajpearson Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Surely you can just change the password, and then they will no longer have access Edit - Make the new password significantly different to the last Quote
ajpearson Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 You can also have a look on facebook to see where you are logged in from Click https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=security§ion=sessions&view log in, and you can then close all active sessions, so if they do have access and she changes her password they will not be able to access it unless they find out her new password Quote
DerekJ Posted October 5, 2012 Author Posted October 5, 2012 She thinks that other people can still access it. (OK I know it's crazy but she's convinced) We will wait for the 14 days. Quote
DerekJ Posted October 5, 2012 Author Posted October 5, 2012 OK, so I just re-activated the account, randomized the password and re-deleted it. Thanks for the help guys. Anyone else had problems with FB? Can it be hacked? How secure is it? etc.... Cheers DerekJ Quote
kevip6 Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 I think it depends on how easy it is to guess the password? Do you think it was hacked by people she knows? Quote
DerekJ Posted October 5, 2012 Author Posted October 5, 2012 I think it depends on how easy it is to guess the password? Do you think it was hacked by people she knows? She thinks so. I've put in a random string (about 20 chars) nor so that even I don't know what it is. I don't think that any of her "friends" are tech-savy enough to crack that. But you never know! Quote
kevip6 Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Most password hacking is done through knowledge if the account they're trying to hack. For instance pets, birthdays, anniversaries etc... If the posting that led to the awareness of hacking was malicious against her then I would imagine its a p*******d off person she knows that might have access to her password from some other means. If you've created a new one then you should be fine. Quote
DerekJ Posted October 5, 2012 Author Posted October 5, 2012 If you've created a new one then you should be fine. Hope so! Thanks Quote
